Yet another incentive from those great people at Osteria del Lago at San Ruffino. They have opened a small English library, novels non fiction and some reference books. The idea is that the novels can be swapped or that you can add to their numbers

One of the main topics at the G8 summit held in L'Aquila this week will be the environment and climate change and a drive to reduce carbon emissions. Mr B might be well advised to look closer to home on this subject.

An English company working in Marche delivering all over Italy, worth a look at the web-site. (Angie ducks to avoid the flak)...but as has been said before we should be promoting people who are brave enough to come here and start up a buisness, which provides a service not just to ex-pats, plenty of ½ûÂþÌìÌà customers as well.

Shame about the ban on booze and the fact that women have to cover themselves from head to toe!..... really its a pity you are no longer enjoying ½ûÂþÌìÌà food Badger when it has so much to offer for eveyone.

Robert is a vegetarian, we have lived here for nearly 7 years now and eating out is not a problem, if we go to a new place to eat we will phone ahead and explain.I am sorry you have not found delicious things to eat Casa Monal, whilst rural Marche food is very meat based, there are lots of pasta, pizza and bean based dishes plus inventive salads that can be enjoyed by vegetaran and non vegetarians alike. .

Also worth considering is how you heat the house in the winter, a low of -12c is unusual for us in Marche at 420mtrs, and away from the mountains , but it still gets cold, and last winter we had very heavy snow, worst months seem January/Feb. We have about 70 olive trees and I do wonder sometimes as we are both retired how we will continue to manage them....but the oil is wonderful, so as my neighbours in their late 70s are still harvesting theirs we will keep going. (or get them to do it for us!). But seriously there are always people who will swap olive oil for the labour of picking, so I should not worry too much.

Stop it Badger!....we have salad tonight. But did manage cous cous last night with roast veg and chicken, how do you do it when its so hot and most people I know here are exhausted, and a limp lettuce leaf is all they can manage to cook!.

Most of my guests are German or Dutch, not sure what they normally have for breakfast, but seems to be here cold meats and lots of cheese....plus hard boiled eggs, and bread and jam...very much like Amsterdam then as I remember it. But really all about having a good time in Italy and enjoying themselves, and the food available.
