Questions Asked

I know this problem has been mentioned in an earlier post, but it has just reared its ugly head again. When we changed the registration of the Citroen from UK to ½ûÂþÌìÌÃ, despite there being a tow bar fitted, it was not noted on the registration.

Anyone know how to ask for the skin to be left on a pork roast, so that you can get the crackling?? Just had a beautiful loin roast from the butcher, but they cut all the skin off before it is on display, so no nice crunchy bits when roasted.

For those of you, who walk dogs around the San Ruffino tracks. There is an ½ûÂþÌìÌà Woman who sometimes has been seen there with an Alsatian, quite often not on a lead.

Stalk & clean 1lb of sloes, prick all over with a darning needle and put in a bottling jar. Add 3-4oz of granulated sugar + a few drops of almond essence or a little Noyeau liqueur.

Anyone have a Canon printer that uses the BCI 24C colour cartridges? I have 5 unused compatible cartridges, as now have a Epson printer. Free to a good home, as against throwing them in the bin!!

Is there a function so that we can insert a PDF or Word document into a post? I have some information for the Energy certificate topic, but cannot see any way to insert it without copying and pasting( PDF of about 7 pages).

The last few weeks, have been walking the dog past the above park area in the evenings. The picnic/viewing area is virtually overgrown, with only the first few metres of grass having been cut, empty plastic bottles strewn around the bins etc.

Don't know how well this will work, but have just experimented with the image, if you cannot get a copy. Right click on the pic and then save as a JPEG. I used ACDSee photo manager and could enlarge with no major picture loss. I went to 15x23 inches, so it is possible you could save to a memory stick and then get a local photoshop to print it out poster size.

Was hoping for a good crop of walnuts this year for pickling, but very few on the tree. The peach trees still need some rain. The grape vine on the front of the house has gone mad again this year, but unfortunately, we have to keep cutting off the lower bunches to stop the dogs from eating them as they are toxic.

Cannot stand football, as it is played by a load of overated, overpaid prima donnas. Rather watch a good game of rugby.

Trying to get variety again this year, so hope all goes to plan. Couple of tomato plants, plum and cherry type. Half a dozen green bean plants Courgette 1 normal and 1 round. Baby sweet corn. Swedes, Kohlrabi and Turnips. All started from individual seed trays this yearand all growing well at the moment. Thai Bird chillies and Pea Aubergines. MangeTout trying again, starting in pots first, then going to transplant with lots of shade Parsnips again in individual seed trays, probably replant into pots to develop prior to going into the ground. Lemon Grass. (Rather late this year planting, but still have a good supply from 2010 in the freezer. Plus the norms, Basil, Mint, Chives, Rosemary, Sage.

Thinking Back. We have a very nice ½ûÂþÌìÌà guy (retired), living near to us. We were sorting out the orto, and he rotovated it for a few euro. He saw our English fork, we had been using to dig the ground and said how good he thought it was, as there was no equivalent here. I ordered one from Amazon as a gift for him and he was so pleased and even wanted to pay for it. Anyway, some time later, we were discussing truffles. A few days later, he turned up with a very large white truffle, as our gift from him. He and his brother also cut down a very large Oak tree in the garden, which we had permission for from the Commune. Gave them all the wood as had no need for it here, which was 2 tractor trailers full. No cost to us, so it does work.

Use cous cous instead of pasta in the summer. Make a Tabouleh salad with it.  Far better for your health and waistline than pasta!!
