This is "funghi porcini" time and you will find them sold fresh everywhere. A great time to enjoy them. There are many ways to prepare them: sauces, garnishes, omelettes, pasta....

Further to previous posts and threads, I did not get an answer from Admin regarding the current status for "Northern Tuscany" group... Consequently, I decided to do something different and I requested the creation of a new group...

Could anyone explain why it is not possible to access the Northern Tuscany Group? I am supposed to be its Administrator and I have not received any information regarding this.

We are just back from a n enjoyable week in Rome and I must mention the great coffee we had at Piazza Sant'Eustachio, a sort of "sanctuary" for all coffee lovers.

We were driving around Lucca when I saw at a newsagent a headline from regional newspaper "Il Tirreno" stating that the Royal couple were coming to Lucca during their honeymoon.

I travel to San Francisco, California, quite frequently as my two daughters live there. I love the city and I have always noticed its strong ½ûÂþÌìÌà influence.

Colby, further to my previous post, there is a bank account that can be opened at the Post Office in ItalyÌýi cannot give an opinion as we use another bank, but I know that some members have accounts with the Bancoposta. Perhaps they could give you their views.in any case, good luck!

Colby, a PO Box does not constitute a residential address. In any case, to get your Codice Fiscale you only need to complete the section "Residenza Estera" on the form I sent you the link for, by inserting your current address in the USA. You are not going to find an ½ûÂþÌìÌà Consulate while you are in Italy. What I meant was your nearest ½ûÂþÌìÌà Consulate in the USA, as you mentioned that you wanted to do as much as possible prior to your arrival.to be honest, I do not understand why do you want to open a bank account in Italy unless you have already decided to purchase a property. If I were you, I would check with my bank in the USA to see which bank represents them in Italy and withdraw monies using their branches. Bank accounts for non residents in Italy attract heavy charges, most of them taxes. If you think at it, banks are there to make money and the type of account you wish to have is not a good commercial proposition for them, unless you wish to get a mortgage, or have investment funds, etc. yes, in the USA, there is a big variety of bank accounts and services available... For people who reside in the USA. If you are a foreigner without legal residence it would be almost impossible to open a bank account in the USA.

Ugo, do you have to take the opportunity to start an unwarranted personal attack? The choice of certain words , particularly one, reminds me of the old gang that gets banned, moves on and comes back under a new identity. I think that I must be one of the very few here who still uses our original ID.now that you mention it... I "strongly" smell the rat...

Ugo, I am not trying to scare anyone. This topic about the reluctance of some ½ûÂþÌìÌà banks to open bank accounts for American citizens has ready been raised and discussed in this Forum in recent timesÌý/post/while-not-question-it-willÌý

To obtain the Codice Fiscale, you need to contact your nearest ½ûÂþÌìÌà Consulate. Look for it in the Web, you can download the form under "modules tics", but this is what it looks likeÌýBank fees are not particularly low in Italy, but besides charges you will also have to check convenience and location before deciding. Also, some ½ûÂþÌìÌà banks are reluctant to open bank accounts for US Citizens because of what they consider excessive reporting demands from the IRS. So you may have to shop around. There is a recent thread on this topic.hotels are generally paid using credit cards as a guarantee, not by bank transfers, hence the reluctance.

Well, it was not very difficult, here you areÌýÌý good luck!

According to this article, they could have a real valueÌýi will try to find some information on Agitalia.

And you have turned this into a personal attack, which is something that you enjoy. here is a name for it: "agent provocateur". And you have not proved your point and I did advise to check locally as well. But then, you read what you want to read... Not a surprise...

I have to disagree with the above statement. Leroy Merlin is a retailer, so they will sell items which are also available from a local Brico shop. The advantage is that you have a large choice to check and compare from. As for price... Usually smaller retailers have problems matching prices offered by large chains, but still, it is always a good idea to check what is available locally.

Fri, 08/28/2015 - 08:32

It will be easier to find the type of shop you need near Perugia. Leroy Merlin has everything you needÌýOtherwise, you may Google "fair da te Umbria" and you may find some shops, like the Brico Io chain. I remember seeing the type of screens or stores you mention in Tuscany, so they should also have them in Umbria.Ìý
