There are several direct trains that go each day from Rome to Venice - depending on what time you want to leave.The direct train takes about 4hrs 16mins I suggest you use   : to plan the trip  

 Or check the timetable and book your tickets on the official �������� Railways website.  You say arrive in Rome, Crawford, is that on a flight?  If so, you'll have to get to Termini but it's very easy from Fiumicino with trains from the airport to the central Rome mainline station every 20 mins or so.   Really makes sense to go to Venice by train and it's an extraordinary experience walking out of the station right on to the Grand Canal.  Waterbuses (vaporetti) stop directly ahead of you, water taxis can be picked up just down on the right.
