2005 Hello!

Hello everybody!
Several years ago, I was fortunate enough to study building conservation for a year in Reggio di Calabria, as part of my masters in England. (there is a european scheme called "ERASMUS" which allows exchange of students.) That year in calabria was incredible, and I still go down there every year. Some day, I hope to move down near there, if not to Reggio itself.

Since then, I have helped with volunteer programmes in Puglia, (actually, I did that before the year in Calabria too!) and have done bits of Archaeology too, In Calabria and Puglia. I have now graduated, and have become a building conservator. Last year, and earlier this year I worked on two buildings (plaster, stonework, and frescos) in the province of Como.

I have been to see operas in Palermo, Naples, Catania, Rome, and Bologna. I particularly like the San Carlo theatre in Naples.

That's all for now, does anybody have questions about historic buildings or repair? I'd love to help!

David:)

Welcome to the Forums - no questions from me at the moment, but I am sure you will have plenty of changes to offer some advise here!

Good Luck!

Hi, Wow what a fascinating job you have, it all sounds wonderful. The house we are buying is small and old in Abruzzo but most definitely not worthy of a mention compared to the amazing buildings you work on.
Enjoy the forum I know I do.

Welcome to the forums. Lucky you to have what sounds an interesting career as a building conservator. Your knowledge will surely be useful to others on this forum.

Wow....we have just bought a 18th cent building that once was a chapel and it needs very sensitive treatment, especailly to the stonework outside and the old brick floors..I will certainly be in touch with you and if you want a holiday in abruzzo when we're done!!

Becky

hi Baggio ....another Abruzzo Fan? Even the most humble building deserves a bit of TLC!

Are you anywhere near us Manoppello?

Becky

Thanks everybody!

Actually, I like smaller buildings, because I think they say more about the people who lived there, and the time they were built in- if you know how to read them!

Manopello- your project sounds interesting, let me know if I can help! what type of stone is it, and what problem does it have?

Thanks again,
David

Hi Manopello/ Becky,
We are approx 30 mins from Pescara, 3km from Lanciano, little village called Nasuti, I say we are, more like we hope to be it's not signed sealed and delivered yet! and yes it definitely needs TLC and then some! but the views, wow, any advice etc you know where to send it.
I don't know Manoppello where abouts r u ?
Ciao
