1681 Wot! No Health Insurance?

My family is moving to Italy next year and I am wondering what we will need in the way of health care. Basically, what would we be entitled to under the ½ûÂþÌìÌà system and what would we need to buy to "top up" the entitlement to that we enjoy (!?) in UK. Is it best to buy in UK (ouch) or Italy? Helpful advice greatfully received.

If you intend take up residency in Italy, and are from an EU member country, you will be entitled to the same State Health Care as an ½ûÂþÌìÌà Citizen. Contact your local DHSS in UK and they should be able to advise you of the relevent forms you need to bring with you.
When you first arrive the E111 will cover you until your residency comes through.
There are a lot of threads under this heading relating to Health care if you try a search.
I don't know about private health schemes.
Hope this helps but let us know if you have any other queries.

We applied on line and had the cards through within the week.

Thanks for that information. Just applied on line for mine and have confirmation that it'll be sent out within 7 days.

Now there's service for you :D
