Are you having new tiles, or just re-using the old ones [if possible]?Ìý- that might cut the cost down

Sun, 02/26/2017 - 14:36

Obviously, cost depends on the area being re-roofedHad my place re-roofed in 2015, by a local man [always use local people, makes life much easier]---------------------------------------------Rough Area - 75 m2New tilesvapour/waterproof barrierInsulationnew purlins [cross beams over roof trusses]new boarding out of roof area before tilinglead flashing around 2 chimneys25m of new gutteringSome painting of exposed woodcost - about £9kÌýDon't know if that helps

If you want cheap petrol - go Calais, Ìýdunkirk, Lille, [if short of petrol, there is a Le Clerk superstor/petrol placeÌýjust off motorway before Lille,]ÌýNamur, Luxembourg, MetzÌý- all good motorways and no tolls.Ìý petrol in Luxembourg is cheapest on your trip.Ìý Did this route 3Ìýweeks agoÌý [only marginally longer than yours with, but no delays for toll booths]You could then do Metz - Strasbourg as per your post, or [for free] Metz Nancy then Mulhouse or Colmar.Ìý Last bits are not dual carriageway, but are good roads over the mountains - no problems there.I always avoid Basle.Ìý Mulhouse on to German autobahn get the Vignette for Swiss motorway at first services you get to, then take the motorway to Lorrach - this avoids Basle and its traffic/delays.Ìý Straight into Switzerland and on to Gottard TunnelÌýOther option isÌýCalais - Rheims, Dijon Besancon and into Switzerland that way, then around Lake Geneva and into Italy via the Simplon pass - nice easy routeÌý[my route with the Doggie on board].ÌýÌý Ìý Quicker, but tolls are paid in France

Hugo,ÌýI suggest that you use the 'REPORT POST' button on my posting, and see if the Magazine people consider it as advertisingThere is no way I condone advertising on this website, and I will continue to 'Report' posts that I consider as advertisingÌýAlan

Fri, 02/10/2017 - 03:14

Hugo, I think you are confusing a 'recommendation' with an 'advert'.My response is purely a recommendation, in response to MrN's request of information from;-"....ÌýÌýany of you with a holiday home (none rental) have any contacts in Italy."It is a recommendation because it is based upon my experiences with getting insurance for my holiday home in Italy, and most importantly, I have no link to the company that I recommend [Groupama] other than I use their insurance.Giving what I believe to be the address of the local office is just being 'helpful'.Ìý All MrsN would have needed to do, after I recommended Groupama, would be to 'Google' [another recommendation!] Groupama and Cosenza to get the adddress I posted.Alan

Thu, 02/09/2017 - 15:41

I use Groupama - I usuallyÌýpay from UK by bank transfer, as I am only rarely at my ½ûÂþÌìÌà holiday homeÌýIÌýthink these are the details for your area;-ÌýGROUPAMA ASSICURAZIONI - SCRUTARI ASSICURAZIONI sas

Almost certain there will be snow around in Switzerland then - but they are pretty good at keeping things clear.Ìý This site may assisthttp://www.myswissalps.com/car/trafficinfoHowever, the risk of snow is why I wouldn't do the route over the muntains between Colmar and NancyDon't forget about the Vignette for the Swiss motorways - you can buy them in German autobahnÌýservices just before Basle [then turn left (Ìýaround Lorrach) to by pass Basle]

Was it a hire car? - if so, the hire company will probably pay the fine and charge your credit card the amount plus a handling fee.
