Just a warning for everyone, a few days ago a friend was badly stung by wasps that had formed a nest inside an outside shed, he was attacked when entering and required urgent hospital treatment.
I have a very good friend coming out to Italy to spend 2 months touring, and hopefully buying a small second home here.

Trying to find my way around this new community, and am slightly better than I was, but with so many threads I am now having difficulty in remembering which one I posted in, so searching for an answer is a task in itself, any easy way to track you

I am having trouble Joy deciding what to to with my Christmas 10 quid bonus, but as Flip so charmingly has described me as a witch I have decided to buy a new broom-stick and a book of spells.......ha!
Very funny Steve!...and may I point out to those that misunderstand, this benefit is based on NI contributions in the Uk prior to residence in Italy...so tough luck my application is in the post. Re Joys post, non Uk workers do the crap jobs that others will not do, the UK and for that matter the ½ûÂþÌìÌà economey is dependant on these people being exploited and living in shocking conditions, its never so black and white. PS wonder if Flip could share the wealth and give me a few bits of wood for the stufa?
Whoops have modified my language on this. I find it amazing that anyone should suggest that I should not finally receive my winter fuel allowance even though I am a permanent resident here in Italy. I have paid my UK taxes and still do after having worked for over 35 years in the public sector. Sour grapes I think from anyone that says this is unfair!. With Badger on this...and have deleted more comments in case much is made of a dispute over this. Sometimes age has its meagre benefits!.
Great information Rosietat will be applying today.
Thanks Andy will research.
Rosietat, could you please explain what an ecofan is please?. Does it just sit on top of the stufa in which case it must get very hot....sorry still pursuing ways of making the house warmer and dispersing the heat from the stufa (which really just heats the kitchen/dining area)
400mtrs here but not as close to the mountains as Badger, did not see any snow on them this morning.....and its raining!
For those of us that dont have the odd 11k around and have an exsisting bombola...it would be rather rash to chuck it away.We do not pay for inspections by our supplier, it already had a fence, and as we have a house and a letting apartment both the boilers get serviced yearly anyway as part of the legal requirements but no way at a cost of 110e each . I admit it is an expensive way of heating, but as the apartment is not usually let over the winter months, and we have a stufa in the house we manage.Over the summer the price for cooking and hot water is tiny. I think you have to work with what you have and what you can afford.
Only ever worked for the state Panner....Civil service (Inland Revenue)Â and Local government, so one assumes in my case this rule applies, otherwise my commercialista and IÂ will be paying a visit to the G di F!.It is a complex affair this tax and whilst one does ones own research, ultimately I leave it to the guy who is paid to deal with it on my behalf.
Steve is correct OAP (ha) is taxed in the UK if other government pensions are also taxed there through a reduction in the tax code. My commercialista took advice from his ruling body on this point and it is acknowledged in Italy that this is the case.Â
