584 Any Campania fans out there?

Hi everyone

I purchased a copy of Italy magazine on Saturday and must say how impressed I am with the content and information in the magazine.

Like all of you I am a lover of all things ½ûÂþÌìÌÃ.

My father is ½ûÂþÌìÌà and my mother English. My father is from a small village in the Salerno area called Felitto but for many years the family there have been spread between Felitto, Capaccio Scalo (near Paestum) and the Island of Procida.

I normally go over at least once a year but having missed last year for the first time since 1989, I am very much looking forward to going over next Monday for 10 days.

I love the Campania area, especially the Amalfi Coast and Pompei plus island hopping. I am a fan of both mountains and the coast so this area satisfies both!

I am also toying with the idea of going over next year for a summer to start with to see how I get on as I am very much a lover of ½ûÂþÌìÌà culture which is why I have started buying these sort of magazines.

General chat about Italy

Hi Gilio. I, too had an ½ûÂþÌìÌà father, English mother. My dad came from a small village in Pr.di Salerno near to Vallo della Lucania. I spent my childhood holidays at the family home, and now - as my husband is a complete Italophile (of course!) - we spend as much time as possible out there with our children, and in fact we're in the process of buying a new place. My dad was the youngest of 14 surviving children and so I have lots of relatives still in that village and in the region generally. Some cousins have moved to other places around the world, but we try to meet up each summer back in the village, and a few of us are buying our "retirement" homes there (although I have some way to go before I retire!). I feel really privileged to be in this position - all because of good old mum & dad! Bless 'em.

Hello,

I'll be giving a paper at the University of Salerno in May and was thinking of trying to bring my husband and 6 year old daughter with me. Any suggestions on good family places in the are where they can relax and have fun while I work? She considers any place with swimming and other children fun. :)

:) I know Procida. My family come from the island of Ischia.A village called Sentinella which is also my surname!!:) :)
