We called into the commune office on our last visit and were given some forms (they have 2004 on them but the lady in the office just crossed that out and wrote 2005) as well as two paying in slips that we have to take to the post office.
Our ½ûÂþÌìÌà is pretty dreadful but she told us she couldn't calculate the ICI for us because there is an apportionment needed as we bought the property in June and so we need to pay for June to December rather than the full year.
She telephoned another office and asked them for the amount and they said they couldn't work it out either so she suggested we go to a Commercialista and ask them to do the calculations. We ran out of time to find a commercialista and the payment is due by 15th December, I think.
As we are not returning until the new year we will have to make a late payment once we sort it out (and pay a fine maybe?).

Payment of taxes
Hi,
We would welcome some help with some forms that to which we need access. These are ICI and IRPEF. Are these forms availiable for us online. Unfortunately, having bought our property in Italy, we are still in the UK, and are trying to sell properties here. Do we have to complete the IRPEF form?
We have been advised by our solicitors in Firenze that they can handle all of this for a fee of 300 euro. We believe, that having no income from our property/land, or receiving any local services, that any Tax will br very minimal. ( we calculate between 0.3 - 0.7 - 0.9 of the Cadastral value) It would be very convenient to pay the solicitors their fee to do this for us but we resent it. If anyone can advise, it would be most appreciated - we would like to avoid any late payment penalties if possible, This ICI is due by the 1st. December. Please help if you can???????
Hi guys
I have also sent you a private email on this subject. €300 seems rather expensive to handle some paperwork, but on the other side there may be some serious implications for late filing of tax returns. I heard somewhere (do not quote me on this though!) that you may be prosecuted before a justice of peace if you do not pay ICI by the deadline?
IRPEF must be declared even if you have earned no rental income, but surely the notaio will be able to make some comments on this?!:D
Our lawyers have a tax advisor in their London office who handles all the ½ûÂþÌìÌà tax matters. Drop me a private email if you want his details. As far as I am aware, their fee is minimal (£50) but I am not sure if this reduced fee only applies to those wo purchased the house through them or to anyone.

Hi everyone, ICI is easy to work out with the help of Cristina's excellent info, see earlier in thread. No need to pay anyone else to work it out!!
Alex and Lyn try asking the post office for blank payment forms, then take them to the commune and get them to fill in their bank details. You should then hopefully be able to proceed......phew.

Sounds remarkably similar to our avvocato from Florence who also wanted €300 for this work, plus offering to complete an unnecessary ½ûÂþÌìÌà Tax return for a further €300. We also resent the scale of fees and have decided, weather permitting, to spend the money on a couple of days in Italy and pay the ICI at the same time.

I have PM'd you re the forms you are trying to get your hands on.

Is it possible to pay ICI and other "nice" taxes using internet and a credit card.
Some local adiminstrations give this possibility and avertise it too.
I have knowledge of this site www.taxtel.it where you can find a list of many comuni that allows this kind of payment.

alex & lyn, don't be too negative.
Have a look at the wbb site of San Vito dei Normanni:
www.comune.sanvitodeinormanni.br.it
there's a link for on line payments of ICI, TARSU etc.
It seems (repeat seems :o ) that all you have to do is to receive a pin (personal identification number) from the comune and then you can access the system.
ICI paid with Credit Card

The Poste ½ûÂþÌìÌÃe website covers all the municipalities in Italy for ICI payments using Credit Card. You need to register and they also cater for non-½ûÂþÌìÌÃs with holiday homes in Italy.... this is really a major breakthrough!!!
Unfortunately, having bought our property in Italy, we are still in the UK, and are trying to sell properties here.
Good luck, we know how frustrating it can be. We sold our house privately to near neighbours who we knew slightly. At the time we accepted their offer we were told that there was a small chain behind them and it was well advanced, 4 to 6 weeks to completion! At the time we turned down another offer through an Estate Agent where the chain was ready to exchange!! How we have regretted it since. The chain behind us has been beset with problems, to the point we were just about to go back to our second buyer (who by now has exchanged and is completing 30 November). Our existing buyer has been economical with the truth about the state of the chain, pulled emotional and guilt trips on us when we have put the pressure on.
Luckily in the nick of time they appear to have finally pulled the rabbit out of the bag. Yesterday their estate agent and solicitor confirmed the chain is ready to exchange (today). Our other buyer was due to come back and have another look at our house last night or today!!
I hope you have better luck than us and your house sale goes through painlessly (if that is possible in the UK)!!

This seems an appropriate place to repeat a post I made earlier this month elsewhere.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There seems to be a facility to pay ICI (by credit card) through http://www.poste.it/ ; very handy for those not yet resident fulltime. It does not appear that a BancoPoste account is required.
But how does one access the the relevant bit of the site? Although I have registered etc I cannot get to the right page. Has the service been withdrawn, or do I need to be a resident/have a BancoPoste account?
Are there any similar sites which facilitate payment of ICI by CC as our Comune does not offer an e-service?
Does anyone have recent experience of using the Poste credit card route without being a Banco Poste account holder? Please tell me how, if it is possible!!! I cannot get beyond registering.

I've just followed your link and when I entered the system it logged me on automatically to a paying screen but I do have a POffice Bank account so it may have patched me though automatically.
It really is worth opening a Post Office account, especially if you live in a small comune - we feel we get special treatment. I am sure if we went into branches on the coast there would be long queues and anonymity but for us it is more a matter of avoiding a big pension paying day and doing a little shopping or having a coffee and returning.

As far as I am aware, you can also set up a prepaid credit as an alternative to an account or credit card. I'll be poping down to my post office later in the week so I'll relay what they tell me.

Unfortunately we are not yet resident, nor likely to be in the near future. Enquiries at the local Poste drew a negative when it came to opening a Banco Poste a/c; we were told we havd to produce Permesso di Soggiorno, which of course we don't have. We have read elsewhere that this is not a necessity, but were unable to convince the local postmistress. Now, if there were a definitive answer somewhere or piece of aper I could wave, that would be helpful!
Grateful for any further advice

Residency is not required I assure you this is a myth. Others have gone back, sometimes with a native italian speaker and bingo success. Ask your agent to assist you. We have an account, we are not resident.

Hi
I would really appreciate some advice. We are completing on 15th Dec a date chosen by the notaio .I now realise that this is the date that ICI is due to be paid so perhaps thats why it was chosen?
On that date is it the Vendors who will pay the ICI? Or is this tax paid in advance if so would it be best for me to ask the vendors to pay it as usual then repay them? I just looked on 'the form site' www.moduli.it and found an example of an ICI form with instructions in italian how to fill it in add/cms.php/gc-ici to the URL and you can see it.

I have been trying to get a form to pay our ICI since September and we live here !!!
I was told by my bank to get one from the Post Office and apparantly it can only be paid at the Post Office ( I asked our bank to pay it for us and they told us they couldn't !). The Post Office say they don't have any forms and we must go back to the Commune for the form...they send us back to the Post Office.:(
The situation is getting ridiculous now...does anyone have any advise . Surely as this is a tax everyone pays, there must be a simpler way to sort it out ...What date must it be paid by ???
