Hi Cockney Girl
I lived in Palermo for 12 years. Its a lovely part of the country but can be quite a culture shock especially if you are going to miss english food. Palermo has a few english items like baked beans and bacon quite close to the American Embassy. As for the children, they will soon pick up the language and you will find ½ûÂþÌìÌà children as with adults, very warm and friendly. I knew very few English people but to tell you the truth, I was quite happy making friends with the italians and it helps with the language.
I know of someone in mussomeli and could ask if there are any brits there
Good luck with your decision
Sue

Welcome to the forum. Oh dear sounds like you could find yourself rather homesick if you move to Sicily. Sure it would not be for long and you would soon wonder why you were so worried! With children and an ½ûÂþÌìÌà husband you would soon integrate and make friends...The internet and this forum would probably help you to find someone to chat to in English! Anyway Good luck with what ever you decide.

thank you so much for all your answers, all i need to do now is have a good think, and pluck the courage up to go !

Hi Cockney girl. Like someone else said, I`m sure with having an ½ûÂþÌìÌà husband and children you`ll soon meet loads of people. Don`t worry too much about the kids - they`re more adaptable than us adults. By the way, I`m glad to hear you can get baked beans in Sicily - does anyone know where you can get them in Puglia? :o

Sorry for some reason imagined your children were little. Still if the GCSE's are 2006 they will be done and dusted by the time you have made definite plans. Should think it depends on your sons plans for any further education?
Maybe you will have to wait a few more years and nothing to stop you making plans now.............

gcse's will be in 2007!... i have an 18yr old daughter who has already flown the nest! on bad terms might i add...then i have 3 sons one 14, one 10 and one 8 months! so i have the sleepless teething nights, the worry of my daughter, the teenage tantruns, and the 10 year old, who will be having the teenage tantrums soon! ... Aliena your probably right are the gcse's worth it?? my daughter has 5, and could only get a job in the co-op... looks 80% yes i am going...need to pluck up the other 2o%...my 14 yr old does not want to go..looks like he will be staying here in an empty house alone..lol...he will soon follow me when he is hungry! or needs his jeans washed!
