1922 Antiques & Flea Markets of Italy

A friend just sent me a little paperback called "The Antique & Flea Markets of Italy", by Marina Seveso. It lists towns, addresses, what they specialize in, dates, times and phone numbers. There are some blank pages in the back so you can put in notes (useful for additional information a seller may give you at one of the markets). I thought this might be helpful to post about as this could be a good resource for home furnishing.

That sounds really useful - although for me the interest would be more the "flea" than "antique" Last time I walked round an antique (street) market in Rome the prices were higher than shops in Chelsea!

I agree Linda, more "Flea" and less "Antique".

This book does list what specific kinds of things some places have.

For example. Arezzo has a special market on the last Sunday of April and September (It's weird, but listed by odd dates and times like this) called "Foto Antiquaria" that has everything you can think of having to do with photography:
old cameras, books, articles, lenses, wooden tripods, etc...

A good place might be in Cagliari: Mercatino Del Bastione, held on Sundays in Piazza Costituzione, with about one hundred venders displaying their wares. Local handicrafts and items are their specialties.

Specific Markets are listed with items like farming tools or creative homemade goods or antique objects of everyday use.

I like the idea of being able to make some short trips to different towns to look for nesting items.

turin has nice flea market, is called balun, it's on every second sunday of the month.

P

I was looking up "The Second Sunday of the month" and noticed another one nearby in Carmagnola (Torino) that offers collectibles local crafts and farming tools. This would be a fun trip to Piemonte because it looks like a lot to look at in one area at one time, thanks Paola!
