1864 Pruning the vines..you have to laugh !!!

Just had a typical ' neighbour' moment !!!!
Was told by one neighbour on Saturday night while we checked our Lottery tickets together ( First time for us ...won E32 !!!!) that we should prune our vines on 16th November as it is the full moon !...Donato our 81 year old 'guru' just popped by on his Ape ( he's 81 !!)and when I told him we are all ready for Wed/Thurs shook his head....No no no ...you do it when the moon is crescente ...before the full moon...and anyway it is still too early !!! :D They NEVER agree on any advise they give us...Bless 'em !!! ....So when are YOU pruning yours

What varieties are you growing and how are they grown (trellised, etc)?

No idea what varieties our vines are, as they were here when we moved in. They grow up various olive trees and while we were harvesting our olives last week the two locals helping us pruned the vines at the same time!

Ours were here when we moved in as well !!
We have some huge ones over a trellis/verandah which are huge eating 'white grapes'and then a long traditional load down in the Olive grove which are smaller and a mixture of white and black which apparantly are the 'wine' ones. There's a lot of pruning there !!

Best be sure what wood the vine fruits on first - first year or second - before you start pruning.
