I have been cursed:

1st programme away in Italy, had to reset the More 4 channel on the repeat got the last 3 mins.:eek:

2nd programme, video taped it, then couldnt find the taped programme even though looked through about 5 videos left at the side of the tv:eek:

3rd programme, started to watch trinny and susanne forgot, taped last 10 mins, at friend over weekend missed repeat.:eek:

Tonight I have to watch it :eek:

Have missed them all so far. Will make a point of tuning in tonight.

I've been dying to see it and on the night of the first I was mid flight to Italy :p . Second was away and forgot to ask mum to tape :( and the third had just arrived back at 5.45 in the morning, sat in bed with small children and a bottle of vino and fell asleep waiting for it to come on :mad: . Will definitely be tuned in tonight and will be opening another bottle of my ½ûÂþÌìÌà vino ( brought back naturally) to get into the spirit (it would be rude not to) :rolleyes:

I have watched the series since it started,and have enjoyed every minute of it. Jamie is an inspiration, could not speak much italian, but each week that goes on he is able to converse more and more, he has so much passion for the food and italian way of life, I also bought the book of Jamie's italy, and have enjoyed the recipes from all the different areas across italy, the wonderful produce, also great pictures of the people whom he met in their villages,He has said one day he would like to buy a farmhouse and live in italy, well, perhaps he should join our forum, plenty of info and advice for him ;) he is in Le Marche tonight, cant wait.

Hummm maybe he'll give me some hot tips for our dinner party of 7 on Saturday night, which of course, is an italian themed meal. Have the book too to help me, perhaps I'll do some research tonight :rolleyes:

Put on some opera music, turn up the heating, get those rustic terracotta jugs out fill with vast quantities of vino rosso and hey presto italiano a la Kilburn-ium, might even get some plastic flowers to complete the illusion.

hey, my sister has just moved up the road from you, is renting out in Cricklewood!

Small world isnt it? I'm afraid both Kilburn and Cricklewood are really near to nice places ;) Cricklewood has some nice places to eat though like the Green.

Thought it was interesting - and am wondering how many complaints C4 got afterward re the slaughter of the lamb and the shooting of the boar.

I liked his attitude in dealing with the people he mixes in well and takes most things with good humour (though on the trailer for next week's episode I suspect his patience does run thin at times).

Will have to let her know about that (the Green). She has only been there a few weeks now so is still discovering what's what.

Superb programme, I've watched all of them up to now.
Puglia next week, has he driven through Abuzzo/Molise without stopping?
As he has been jumping around a bit there must be still hope for the other regions.

Any idea how many episodes in the series?

The C4 website states:
Sicily - Jamie's first stop and the home of some fantastic street food.
Marettimo - The beautiful island where Jamie chilled out.
Farfa - Stay in a monastery like Jamie.
Le Marche - Enjoy a foodie festival in Italy.

So that means..............

.................but then the site also says that he's on again C4, Weds 16 Nov 8.30PM, when the 'blub' says "after his terrible experiences with British school dinners, Jamie is intrigued to know what ½ûÂþÌìÌà children eat at school"

So, I suppose that mean it's only a 5 week show.....?

You can find out more from the Chanel 4 website and even watch some of the recepie's again on their video recepie's. :p which is fab as I've missed the first three programs :mad:

I read somewhere that it's a 6 week show! Doesn't he end up in Tuscany as well?? Hmmm what about the north though?? :confused:

Thought last night was very good. But am sure there'll be plenty of complaints about the 'kill-it-yourself' theme. Don't know why, really, as nobody really knows how most animals we find on supermarket shelves get killed. I was impressed how he pulled through, though.

Right way to go... roll on next Wednesday!!

BTW - I thought the wild boar ragu sounded luvvly!!!

Agree the wild boar ragu looked yum - it IS yum - pretty much always on offer in our bit of Le Marche. Our butcher in Derbyshire sells wild boar but its hugely expensive here - I'll be sticking with steak mince here sadly..
What struck me as possible 'telly-bollocks' was they appeared to eat both the lamb and the boar on the day the killed them, surely meat like that needs to be hung for a while? Hmmm.
Enjoyed the show though, anyone know where the town was - it felt more northern Marche to me..Did laugh at him saying it was totally undiscovered. Yeah right, ten years ago maybe!

Pork doesn't need to hang as far as I am aware, but lamb (of that advanced age) does - we used to get lamb from a farm up the road from us and that definitely was hung for a while between slaughter and delivery. Maybe though it isnt strictly speaking necessary whereas with beef it is essential.

Has anyone read the article on Jamie in most ½ûÂþÌìÌà newspapers today? Oops, not good reviews I'm afraid.....

That was exactly what I was saying to the TV "surely you're not going to eat that lamb straight away?" I have had lamb in Italy around Easter when it is a traditional time to eat it apparently and didn't like it at all. Similarly quite a few of my ½ûÂþÌìÌà friends say they don't like lamb, but always eat it when visiting me in the UK as it's completely different. I wonder if it is extremely young lamb - like vitello di latte? When I see it in the butchers it certainly doesn't look the same colour as our lamb. No doubt somebody will enlighten me.

Great show though. I did think there might have been a bit of editing on the length of time it appeared to take him to find the boar!

Linda, that lamb he killed was definately not very young.
I reckon telly black magic was employed.
Poor Jamie, (well hardly poor but I feel for him) he's getting loads of complaints today about kids being upset by him killing the lamb.
As he said if as a chef he's cooked 1000 lambs he ought to be able to have killed at least one himself..It was clearly warned in advance that it was going to be shown and was really not too bloody at all. Do people think that lamb chops come from a lamb chop factory? - maybe if we thought a bit more about where our meat comes from we would pay a bit more for it and give the animals a less ghastly death and a happier life.

Says she who has just returned smugly with a lovely free range organic chicken for Sunday lunch...

Someone mentioned that Jamie has avoided Abruzzo area, and I agree it does look like he has missed quite a few places, Florence and Tuscany and I'm not sure he did Umbria which is truffle-tastic..strange, amongst many other places I'm going to Turin soon and that will be interesting food wise-perhaps francio-italian.

I also would have preferred the book to reflect the series by area rather than by food type. Still all the food is top quality, cant wait for next week. :D

Lynn, if I can get my act together, which doesn't happen often, will try and remember to record Jamie in San Vito, ahem, Puglia for you.

Does anybody know which part of Puglia the next program was recorded in. I like watching Floyd on Italy and find it really spooky when he's walking round the streets in Ostuni and I can actually recognise which street he's walking down.
