1781 Christmas driving

We are planning to drive over to Le Marche for Christmas. Am considering Chambrey, Frejus Tunnel (if nothing happens to it in the meantime) Turin, Bologna etc.. Any experience of what the road conditions are like at this time of year around the crossing area?
I guess the alternative is to go due south in France and take the coast road into Italy.

Thanks

Hi... We're also planning to drive to Le Marche around about the 2nd Dec, and any advice on which route to take would be much appreciated. Doesn't have to be a scenic route... Via Michelin.com suggests going through Luxembourg, then Zurich, then Milan and down that way. Any comments...?

If I remember correctly there was a thread earlier this autumn about the mentioned driving and someone had actually found best the Switzerland-Austria-Brenner pass route. Sorry I don't remember who it was but you could find the thread using the Search in upper blue bar to find out earlier
experiences.
