I wanted names for my children that were both italian and english. I had Carla and Anthony :)

If we had gotten a girl six years ago I had been fighting with my partner to name her Claudia Gabriella, to match my fathers and grand gathers initials. I find Claudia very nice name and it is ½ûÂþÌìÌÃ/English/international. No favourites on boys names at the moment.

The names I like are Ricardo instantly recognisable and interpreted as Richard but for a girl Anna-Maria or Ann-Marie.

Friends of mine called their son Sebastian - I wondered what would happen to the name over time.

18 years on - everyone [including his parents] knows him as 'Sebi'

So choose what you want - it will evolve into an ½ûÂþÌìÌà [type] name anyway .

We named our son Alexander and when he was in Italy with us, everyone used to call him Alessandro which I think is a lovely name.

For a girl I would choose Gabriella, ½ûÂþÌìÌÃ\English

My son, who was born in Italy is called Carlo. Had he been a girl it was going to be Giorgia. You will let us all know the outcome I hope!

Laura and Giulia (Julia) are perfect in many languages. Just have to pronounce the vowels a bit differently and change that J to G (or Y in Russian) and your daughter (if its a girl) will be at home the world over. Short first names are preferable for first graders who are learning to write their names too.

as my fathers name is carmine, giovanni, and i was named giovanni [john].

My son's name is John (forename) Carmine (middle name)- two seperate names - the John being english and Carmine being italian, which is the name of his italian nonno.

I like the names Christopher and Isabella.

My children are called Emily and Luca. Dont call him Mathew. The ½ûÂþÌìÌÃs pronounce it Mateww

Firstly, congratulations on your expected new arrival.

We have a two month old named Matthew as Matteo is the italian version which we really like. If he had been a girl he would have been Francesca or Isabella.

Thanks again for all the names provided. Sorry for the delay in updating our progress - just back from paternity leave.

My wife gave birth to a boy on Sunday 13th Nov. He weighed 7llbs and 10oz and mum and baby are doing well.

For about 5 days, he was nameless as we 'discussed' options. For a shortwhile, he was an Elio, Giorgio and a Sergio before we finally settled on Matteo, with Gaetano (his nonno's name) as a middle name.

Sleepless nights a plenty but it is worth it.

Cannot wait to get him over to Italy to meet his extended family and to show him our little bit of Italy, a small family apartment in Abruzzo, where I hope we will enjoy many a holiday.

I believe you should post under blogs and galleries but you can post in your reply.
Select 'post reply' then scroll down until 'manage attachments' select then in ' upload file' you can browse your computer for the photo, there is a limit to size (it will warn you if its too big) so you may have to fiddle a bit or compress it 'zip'.
If you type your message first and then do the photo bit it should come in at the bottom.
Preview post to see if it works before submit reply.

Having an ½ûÂþÌìÌà surname seemed to make it a bit easier for us,an english christian name just didnt sound right.We chose Alessandro and Luca for boys and Olivia for a girl.There are lots of lovely ½ûÂþÌìÌà names so best of luck to you both
