1677 Sky in Marche

Afternoon to all, Has anyone brought over their sky satellite system to Marche? If yes who set it up and what size of dish did you need to pick up the signal? No coverage in the UK about anything happening in Puglia!!!! Though people killing each other in Birmingham over a rumour! What a world!

I know a few people who brought equipment over, maintained their subscription in GB, they used min. 1 metre dish (in the mountains), got some programmes, found that several fade out throughout the afternoon though, they've both subsequenly had Sky Italia installed and use the english language selection, you get most films in english and the discovery channel types, and the chance to watch endless repeats on BBC Prime, and eastenders of course (I'm seriously worried about Peggy now !!) as /if your ½ûÂþÌìÌà improves, you can then change to ½ûÂþÌìÌà for all of your stations.
Hope this helps, ohh, if you are adamant on trying to get all of sky UK, you might have more success with a 2 metre dish...BIG... :)

You can pick up most of the Sky UK subscription channels, Channel 4 and Channel 5 with dish of 1 to 1.2 metres.
The problems start if you also want the BBC1, BBC2,(etc) and ITV. They are broadcast on a satellite with a very narrow beam centred on the UK, so you need a bigger dish (1.5 to 2 metres) and they are bulky and expensive.
As George says, most people have opted to install Sky Italia, which provides a pretty good range of the programmes that you are used to in the UK (though nothing from Channel 4, which is a shame)

By the way, Sky Italia is just about to introduce a receiver with a hard-disk, similar to Sky Plus in the UK. Details on the link below....

Tnx for the info, but if it takes a 5 metre dish I''ll need it as I can't do without the footie! Not so bothered about everything else,I did see when in a hotel in Rome that they show the premiership on sky Italia Saturday afternoons,is this free or a subscription channel?

Marc We do get Channel Four Programmes, but only ones that they sell to BBC Prime eventually, like 2-3 years later! Usually the programmes we all love to hate, on property moving abroad, etc etc!!

They show some premiership games on Sky sports as pert of your package, there are also about 14 additional calcio channels available with an extra subscription, I'm not a fan myself, but there seems to be lots of football on sky sport (and of course, football is almost a religion here :) )
Ohhhh, 5 metre dish, you'd be able to get eastenders before the UK  And, you'd be able to stack your wood under it to keep dry

Loved the 5mtr dish comment George, nearly choked on my cornflakes laughing! anyway just looked at the sky italia site and they seem to show more footie there than here including the Scottish games which is more what I'd be interested in. So it'll be sky italy for me,no more info reqd!!!!!!!

Hmmm aren't there discussions going on as Sky's exclusive contract to show Premiership matches runs out next year?? And other channels are gearing up to get those contracts, having started counting their pennies?
I'd keep an eye on that story as you may end up without your footie, even with a Sky package... (unless they show them simultaneously on 2 channels... of course! ;) )

......you can watch Scottish matches on ½ûÂþÌìÌà Sky, yet I'm struggling to pick them up 200 miles away...! :(

So, anyway, what did you think of the Raith Rovers v Greenock Morton match last Saturday? :D
