Unape chappie ... laugh? I nearly split my sides!

I read the link to article, but still am not sure what an Ape is? I don't understand? What is an unape chappie? :o Remember I'm from Southern CALIFORNIA :confused: Not ever heard of an Ape or an unaped chappie.

Oh Peggy,
It's a play on words sort of.
An ape is the little ½ûÂþÌìÌà 3 wheeler car/bicycle (have you ever seen Peter Sellers's Pink Panther film where he pretends to be an electrician or something and somehow ends up in the swimming pool in his little three wheeler van?- that was an Ape)
So although its called an Ape (which we (English speakers) would pronounce like a big baboon) its an aaapppeeee and so an unape chappie becomes (in English English - maybe should apologise for this - an unhappy chappie (chappie is quintissentially an english word for male person (was about to say bloke but then thought that might not be particularly understandable either).

Good grief, does any of that make any sense at all??

Confused of Cumbria (and that's just for reading my OWN message)..

An ape (Pronounced ap ay I think) is one of those italian three wheeled mini-vans with motor scooter engines and usually wonky wheels. Previously you didn't need a licence to drive one which was good for the poor peasant farmers but not for the safety of the rest of us (Although at a top speed of about running speed) you probably wouldn't feel much when it hit.

And the subject is a Uk "sound alike"

Well, no shape changing as yet, BUT, suddenly the Saluki "aloofness" I have grown used to, has been replaced by "I will tolerate you allowing me to climb onto your lap for a while, but DO NOT REGARD THIS AS A CUDDLE", soooo, errm, something might be happening. If she ever starts regarding me as coming close to an equal..as if!!!, I will definitely worry...

Ahh - Pink Panther anolgy I understood. Chappie I like that - I know a few guys in here I may refer to them as chappie's.
