1602 New to forum

Hi to everyone. My name`s Hazel and I`ve just joined the forum today. I live in a trullo in Martina Franca, Puglia with my husband and two daughters aged 11 and 12. I`m a qualified nurse and chiropodist but I`m working as a dental surgery assistant to my husband. We moved down here a year ago and have got 3 cats and numerous dogs (like most Brits down here). By the way, would anyone like to give a good home to a dear little black and white puppy? We`ve rescued 6 little orphans and have found homes for some and are keeping 2 but we can`t keep any more as we`re moving to a house with a smaller garden - send me a pm if you can help. I digress - We`ve had a year of ups and downs but all things considered, we love it here and would never consider going back to the UK. The girls were thrown in at the deep end in a local school but after a year, their ½ûÂþÌìÌà is brilliant and they`ve made loads of friends. They`re particularly popular in English lessons! If anyone is considering moving down here my advice is to learn the language and get to know lots of local people. We`ve found that who you know really counts down here.

A very big hello and welcome to you all!
It's nice to hear from folk who have already made the move as a lot of us here are either part-time in Italy or just looking for a place to buy.
Stay tuned in - you will probably be able to answer some of the questions the newbies ask - and give the benefit of your experiences !
Welcome onboard,
Lesley & Brian

A very big warm welcome to you from all of us already in Puglia (have you started to glow yet from the toxic waste ;) . I was interested in your comments about your children at school. I would like to move next year (ex permitting) and was glad to hear your children coping with the change. My children are 10,8,3 and 2 and I know the younger two will cope, but I am worried if the older two would have problems. Glad to hear of any possative reports. :D

Hi Hazel, Di here, you found the forum ok then and welcome. Thanks again to both of you sorting out my tooth! Back in England now but back again in Puglia hopefully in November to complete. Really pleased you have joined the forum it's full of information and at times a good laugh. I'm sure with your last year in Italy you will be able to help those of us that are still learning the ropes and others may ba able to help you.

Thanks

Di and Dave :D

We live here permanently too ..and love it....Dave and Di told us how you helped with her tooth...no doubt we'll be paying you a visit shortly for a check-up !!!!!

So pleased to hear your children have settled well ( we are retired with 2 grown up sons in UK )..it was great to hear such a positive story after all the wingeing lately !!!!! :)

Sorry you missed the party but if you ever come over 'our' way , pop in .

We have also made friends with a lot of the local people and they are marvellous.

Tempted by the puppy....we brought our mutt from UK and think she could do with some company ....but she is a bit spoilt...will ask Alex when he finally surfaces !!!!!

Welcome to the forum, i am fairly new to this too!! We (When i was a 'we' and part of a couple, now single )visited Martina franca at the begining of the year. It was magical seeing the Trulli with their wonderful shaped roofs topped with snow. It was a very short visit, but Puglia is a lovely region to visit. It will have to be a while before i can visit Italy again as i am due to have my baby soon. Good luck with finding homes for the puppies and i hope you, like me, enjoy the forum.

Thanks to those of you who have replied to my posting. Auguri Di and hubby for the trullo - hope all goes well in November. No, we haven`t started glowing yet and we definitely do feel positive about our move here - mind you, winter`s on its way!! Best wishes, Hazel

Hi and welcome to the Forum. Wish you were not so far as I could use a good dentist!
