I think that the heat of the summer affects flowers every bit as much as the winter cold, so, perhaps we will have 2 seasons here each year, I noticed the roses in particular last year, and they've bloomed again this year, and the rosemary is in flower too... Just enjoy it is what I say :)

Bulbs

Bulbs-tulips, etc. need to be planted after the first frost (or when the ground is quite cold)...so that they can go through their normal growing cycle...ground warms up and the bulbs start sprouting their green and flowers.
To keep your bulbs fresh while waiting for the proper time to plant, keep them in your fridge.

good idea - we will bring a few of the strawberry plants with us, at the moment the garden is completely bare (rotivated by previous owner) and waiting to be planted

October is the month to get down any spring and early summer flowering bulbs.
Hope we won't be too late

We'll be arriving around 10/11 November, hope we won't be too late!

Probably not - I tend to wake up and do things in the garden several weeks after the due date and nothing has suffered yet. Considering you have a much nicer climate down there I suspect you would get away with it no probs.
it looks like a load of them are coming through already...is this normal and when can I expect them to flower.????.
Just down the road from us here are some crocuses that have been in full bloom for a couple of weeks!!! Our daffodils and lilac finally flower towards the end of spring - everyone elses seem to arrive at the usual time. We still have some roses going strong. It is different to what you would expect, perhaps it is to do with the Lunar planting many swear by? Who knows?
Flowering times do seem to vary depending on where you are and at what height, as for Christmas I don't know. Last year we had lots of wild cyclamen and the shops/garden centres were full of them. What about Christmas roses?, when do you have to plant them?
