I am in Altomonte about 30 min. south of cosenza and I know Belvedere but havent been there in years. How brave of you to make this move as I have suffered many years of living in the south of Calabria as they are just so far behind in the times(its getting better but the one that live in Malvita from here should know what i mean), nothing works here in Calabria, and people just dont know how to wait in line!! I suppose being brought up in the States and having all the wonderful things there, then coming here, it was like heading back to the past.

I suppose we are just simple souls who are happy to wait (and the slow pace fits our particular life stage 8-) )
The fact that we are at the point where we want to slow down (even more than at present in Cumbria - and we are slow to the point of horizontal here) makes us completely unconcerned about queues (or lack of them!).
Additionally we need everything to be slow so we can try to work out just what is going on (until such time as our language skills improve considerably).
Would you know of any teachers/schools near us to help with our ½ûÂþÌìÌÃ??
I agree that the South isn't for everyone but the things that might frustrate younger folk are the things that make the place so special to us.
If I might ask... what brings you to Calabria from the US - is it family ties?

I do not know any schools here that do visa versa as all the people I know teach english. I have lived in Italy over 20 years because I met my Calabrese husband in Chicago and to make a long story short we live in Italy and have a hair salon and villa. But hoping this will change in the next 3 years.
House in Calabria

[QUOTE=bellaepovera]HI everyone,
This is my first post so bare with me. I am an active user on Florida forums so this is a first for me on an ½ûÂþÌìÌà one. I am an American living in Calabria for over 20 years. I have been searching the net for the interest of using italymag for advertising for certain investments. Does anyone on this forum use this magazine for advertising and to advise the outcome of using it.
Any honest answers are welcome.
Does anyone live in the Calabria area?
Regards

Hi Patti,
I have a house I visit regularly in Calabria. The place is Pietrapoalo near Rossano but up in the hills. Where are you in relation to that? I go on my own quite a bit as I am single again. I'm stuck to school holidays cos of my job but love iit there.
Life is a little slow but I try to accept that when I'm there. Frustratind waiting in foe workmen though.
Regards,
Carolyn

Hi Patti & welcome to the forum.
I'm afraid I can't comment on the question re advertising in the magazine (or any magazine for that matter) as we are just new buyers in Calabria.
We are now the proud owners of a house between Diamante and Belvedere Marittimo and are hoping if we can tie up a lot of loose ends in the Uk we will be able to be full-time in Italy.
Where are you??
