...its on all the main news programs today in italy.... out of 5000 carriages only 500 are affected... trenitalia comment is that they are doing everything poss and as quickly as poss to clean all the carriages.... so now it has all come out i am sure by next week all the carriages will have been disinfected

The newspaper here in Torino reported more than one episode of "zecche" (had to look it up cos never heard of them --its 'ticks') on some trains - particularly long journies from the South up to the North. I wont go into details - suffice to say it didnt make pleasant reading ! Hopefully Trenitalia now have it under control........

much like the uk train stories here start the comparison stories.... and funily enough here in italy uk trains are often regarded as better than the ones here.... it all just goes around in circles.... but i would suggest hire car or plane.... for your next planned journey[/QUOTE]
Whoops sounds unpleaseant. Where did you read this? what part of Italy is affected? Trains in Lazio so far have always been very clean!
