1507 Does anyone know what the various taxes go to?

When you pay 10% "Substitution tax", as I think they call it, for "second home", what do the various parts of the 10% go to?

Notaio has indicated that the 10% total is made up of:
7% tassa registro...What's that for? How is this tax justified?
2% tassa trascrizione.. same questions.. who do the monies go to?
1% tassa catastale.. Do these funds go to the upkeep of the "ufficio catastale"?

Why not just put it all together in one, joint tax? It's so confusing but yet intriguing.. why do they make up all these different taxes... ½ûÂþÌìÌÃs tend to explain it by saying that the state needs to derive income from whatever it can get its hands on... Any comments? Do all of these funds really go towards the upkeep of varius offices such as the "uffici catastali" and the "conservatoria dei pubblici registri immobiliari"?

By the way, how is the 3% tax put together then?

You have said it all. I think that what I am going to do in the future is stop wondering why they do this ? when they could make it so much easier to do that ?

I go into various offices and wonder how they manage to function.

Best do as you do just shrug your shoulders. In future I will go and have a glass of vino. Why bother to care? Just enjoy the food, wine and sunshine.

It helps to keep people in work too... I wonder why people always want to alter the system, let's make everything more like "Home", well this lovely, complicated beaurocratically complicated country is my home, and I love it, the extra visits to the comune give me the chance to wander on down to the bar and have a nice cup of coffee after standing in the queue in the post office, trying to understand what the people are chatting about, then, to sit in the piazza, taking in the sun shine and , whatever... :confused:
