First of all i would contact the guy to ask him what methods of payment he will accept.
I assume you do not live in Italy as you would use a bonifico bancario, postepay, or just send a cheque.
I used to purchase a lot of items on ebay.it and have them sent to the UK long before PayPal was used by ½ûÂþÌìÌÃs. I simply sent the cash in Euros by registered (and insured) mail to Italy. I never had any problems and you are completely covered should the money go astray.
Thanks

I do live in Italy and we now have our bona-fide bank account but have only just got it so I haven't set it up on-line yet...can I just do that or do I have to ask Bank...also haven't received pin numbers for bank cards yet ( bank had to re-order them as they didn't arrive !! ) ...and no-one has mentioned a cheque book !!!!
Think I'd better pop in bank and see what I can do !!!!....Ho HUm...getting more 'local' by the day !!!!! :)
You can do a direct bank transfer quite easily if you have your details set up for online banking , all you have to do is get your sellers sort code and account number, but you might need to get that IBAN thingy too if it's an international transfer from a UK bank account. I don't use Paypal myself and usually pay by cheque. Can you get Postal orders in Italy?
