1441 Cookbook Recommendation

Gastronomy of Italy was recommended to me. I order it and I received today, it is a beautiful cookbook. I can't wait to use it. I love all information in it also. Explains ingredigents, has both metric and cups (boy you know what I mean), so I won't have any conversion problems. Francesca you recommended it to me. Thank you, I can't wait to try some recipes!!!! :D

I ordered that book ages ago ( when it was recommended on Forum !) from Amazon and am still waiting !!! Last time I looked at account it said despatch due in October !!!!
Hope it has some Christmas recipes 'cos it's missed the 'al fresco ' season !!!!! :D

Obvious I know but hes the god of our kitchen, his earlier books are much more ½ûÂþÌìÌà based and easy to follow. The River Cafe books have weird and wonderful combinations which look quite boring, but the simple flavours are incredible, and work so well together. I also got The Tuscan Cookbook, which is now on sale here, it has recipes around the year and is a beautifully designed book, which very very authentic recipes the Orecchiette is particularily good (almost better than the stuff out there).

I'll but in an order for your book though girls, sounds fantastic

One of the reasons I love italy is the food, and I love to cook anyway

Jamie does Italy.
Does anyone know when his new series will be on TV.All I know about it is that he was travelling around Italy in a camper van and using local recipes & ingredients. I'm dying to find out if he passed our way.
I think the book to accompany the series is due out at the beginning of next month.

Just a little bit of research and I found this on www.jamieoliver.com:
"I just thought I would let you know that my new book, Jamie's Italy, is being published on 3 October in the UK and it's going to be available in Australia, South Africa and Holland this autumn as well. And watch out for the accompanying television series which will be on Channel 4 in the UK, starting on the 19 October.

I've always loved Italy and for ages have wanted to travel round the country to get away from it all and to become inspired by the food and the people. So I set off earlier this year with my VW camper van and a specially-built trailer kitchen on the back of it so I could cook wherever I pitched up!

From Sicily to Puglia to the mountain region of Le Marche, to the beautiful Amalfi coast and lots of places in between, I packed in as much as I could and met so many friendly people - from lovely families who shared their recipes with me, to market traders who gave me tips on how to cook their produce. I had an amazing time and will never forget it. The book is full of the recipes that I collected along the way. One of my favourite chapters is the one on Street Food - the ½ûÂþÌìÌÃs are great at this; no burgers or fried onions here!"

Will this be another Floyd on Italy but with more raffish charm?

Is this Jamie show anything like Rick Steves here in the States? He is pretty good, he has show on PBS - not really sure when I just happen to always be flipping through the channels and it's on so I watch it and I enjoy it.

You know I got home and looked more at the cookbook, I was at work when I received it, so I couldn't ahh over it. I was so correct, it is so beautiful, interesting facts, wine information, the recipes sound greta, the pictures are awesome (oops sorry George) ;) I'm making something this weekend.

I have another cookbook coming in the mail ordered it the same time and it is ½ûÂþÌìÌà food from the North - something like that, ordered from Amazon.

Wahoo - food :D Yahoo ½ûÂþÌìÌà food :D

His main claim to fame is as the Naked Chef, which has I believe aired in America he's a young English multi millionaire with a passion for VW camper vans and using the word Pukkah regularly... Ohh yes, he's a bleedin good cook innit, pukkah....

:D First of all Naked Chef's are right up alley :D Actually he is on the cooking network, yes then I know whoyou are talking about. I did not know one in the same. Now I do - I will check listings and see when he is on. Probably when I'm at work - I don't know how to record anything - that is a husband thing. ;) Thanks George
