Well...they would NOT issue insurance or transfer ownership of car last night WITHOUT taking copy of our residency certificate.
No point arguing the point at 8pm at night .

Ohhh A&L, don't you just wonder why it takes some people a long time to discover there's the RIGHT way, the WRONG way andTHE ITALIAN WAY...
Makes life more interesting though, just go with the flow... I think that there are soooo many regulation changes, and trying (or not) to embody the EU's regulations into the framework of law that unless they're part of a Proffessional organisation which uodates them regularly, the clerica workers, simply rely on what they know to carry out their work.
Still, the sun is shining the people are smiling and you have the car now ;) :D
Sorry, didn't have time to find original thread.
Despite being told we didn't need it...when we went to Office to transfer ownership , we DID need Residency Certificate and so did Insurance Company......just shows you , can't believe a car salesman !!!!!
Now have car ..happy ...poor.(see car insurance post !!! ).... but happy !!! :)
You don't need residency just to have a domicile - it is the same discourse we had on this forum with Banca Posta. I found out this information from going to www.magaglio.com where you can print off whichever declaration (dichiarazione) fits your status. The problem then is to convince the "jobsworths" at your local ACI of this.
