Just had a thought Mara. You obviously have access to an oven at school, yes?
A good 'gratification' cooking lesson for young children as follows:
Packet of ready made puff pastry.
Jar of ready made Salsa di Pomodoro.
Some salami slices or prociutto ... or whatever you like really.
Grated hard mozarella or chopped up soft.
Some torn bazil leaves.
Drizzle of olive oil.
Salt and black pepper.
Kids can roll out a square of puff pastry, mark with fork all around edges.
Spread sauce.
Cover with salami or ham.
Sprinkle with mozarella, salt and pepper and bazil leaves.
Drizzle olive oil.
Bake in oven for approximately 15 minutes or until pastry has risen and is golden brown around edges.
Eat!
My kids loved making this as it was something they could do entirely by themselves with just 'assistance' with the baking part.
Actually this is good as a quick supper dish for adults too ;- )

Does it have to be bread? Expect it does as children aged 6-7 years would get a lot of satisfaction making something they can eat.
If not, I've got a good playdough recipe that I used to use with my girls. You can colour bits of it and mould into whatever shape you want i.e. different food types.
It can be kept in an airtight container to re-use or baked until hard to keep the required shape.
My girls used to use it to make immitation loaves of bread, pieces of cheese, chops etc. to play with in their wendy house.
If it's any help here's the recipe:
3 mugs of flour
1/2 mug of salt
1 tablespoon of cooking oil
1 mug of water
food colouring (liquid is best)
Mix flour and salt together in a large bowl.
Add water and oil slowly.
Add desired amount of food colouring.
Store dough in air tight container.
* If mixture is too stiff add more water.
* If it is too sticky, add more flour.
