1413 new flights to Rome and Pisa from the uk

Had an email from Jet2 last night - they are starting flights to Pisa and Rome from Leeds next April. Its the main airport in Rome not Ciampino.

Hope they start from Manchester soon too..

Seems our campaign for more flights to Italy from the north of the UK is paying off.

Must write another letter to Ryanair...

Just for your information,

Unfortunately, this route is not starting until the middle of May 2006!

I have also just found out that the FlyThompson service between Bournemouth & Pisa is ending for the winter season........

the main airport in rome is Fiumicino, one form oxford wold be nice too !!! :D

Hello all,

I have found the best way to find flights is to log on to the destination airport's website, and look at the inbound flights. I tend to find it's a lot easier than logging on to several airlines sites and putting in a departing airport in each to see where they fly too!

Hope this helps some of you...

It's been mentioned several times before, but www.SkyScanner.net are also VERY useful!

Jet2 only make one return flight a week, leaving Leeds on a Saturday, and at 9am, and returning at 13:05.

I guess if you are going out for a week that is okay - but no good for long weekends. I guess it will get booked quite quickly and be quite expensve also....

It does anoy me when airlines just cherry pick routes and times they want rather than actually offering a real service.....Even though I live in Leeds, I will travel to Liverpool / Manchester to support airlines that give better options at around the same cost.

I guess they have to try the route to see if its profitable, their prices from Manc to Venice have been occasionally fantastic this year - I did a trip from Manc for £35 return including taxes!
As long as the list of flights grows longer I'll be happy.

Hi Marina,

I Guess your right and I am just having a Friday Blues moment sat in Leeds working whilst it rains!

Jet2.com already fly from Manchester to Pisa! that's who we came with this time and Ryanair have just started flying form Liverpool to Pisa already booked for our next visit.

Hi Susi,

Yep - I am booked out with Ryanair for next Friday - it cost me a whole whopping 1p for the outward flight!

Having said that it was £70 for the return leg!

I have flown to Milan a few years ago with Jet2, the jets were nice, leather allocated seats and plenty of room - what were the prices like as I have never seen a cheap deal with Jet2 - they always seem to be around or above £50 each way...

Regards

Jet2.com charged us the princely sum of 145 pounds for both of us, great flight too arrived early.

It's not so far from Leeds to Doncaster (Robin Hood) Airport - flights quite reasonable to Pisa and every day but Sunday - but as with Bournemouth, they are only from May to end October.

We have booked to go to Pisa from Doncaster Airport next week which is far more easy to get to then Manchester etc. However, we live 10 minutes away from Leeds Bradford Airport (on the bus route from the city centre) and are dismayed at the lack of flights to Italy.

I did some work for the airport a couple of years ago and I pestered them at meetings to put more flights on to Italy (even though the meetings had nothing to do with flight routes)! They told me that it was a) difficult to get landing slots at some of the airports (especially at Rome) and b) that there was no demand for these flights anyway as most people in the north wanted to go to Spain!!!!!

I think that all we can do is keep writing to Jet 2 and hope they see the error of their ways and put on more flights to Pisa and other cities around the country.
