1189 Getting more and more confused with bills !

Hi Everyone,

Is there any way that we could have something permanent on the Forum which lists exactly what bills need to be paid, the ½ûÂþÌìÌà name of these bills, when they are due and how to pay them please. :)

I'm talking day to day running of house : ICI, Rubbish Tax, TV license, Elelctric, Gas( if applicable),Dog License ( if we need one !!), Telephone and anything I have missed !

I know we have many Posts on the subject but a complete list of everything relating to the house would be so much easier.

I tried to do a search on ICI ( looking for cristinas' post ) and nothing comes up ...and most of the others are on different posts.

Cost of living - Utility Services

Agree - this is good idea. It would be really useful especially for newbies or anyone thinkng of buying a property.

Check out http://www.informer.it They have a nice little calendar with all that info.

I have the basics set up here http://www.expatsinitaly.com/living/bills_due.htm

Of course some areas have specialized taxes and until I get more feedback I cannot include them.

I think the calendar on the Informer is only for members now but I may be wrong. My list has what his has but does not include taxes for businesses yet (although I may include this at a later time).

Thanks for the info cristina...just a couple of things....the Housewife Insurance  what is that all about ?

As we are due to pick up our residency papers on Tuesday, will we be automatically registered at the Commune fro Garbage Tax and ICI and just wait for the bill for garbage ? - realise we don't get a bill for ICI and have to print it off or get one from Post office
And do you recommend we go straight onto the ICI site as soon as we are registered ....we haven't paid anything yet and bought house at beginning of May ?
Still haven't received either phone or electric bills ......and estate agent must be still on holiday...can't work out what he has done with these as he organised connection of both...will pop into him next week to try to find out account numbers etc.

Are all these paid at the Post Office or can we set up Direct Debits ( once we get bank account updated from a temporary to a proper one -after residency )..or On-Line ?

Sorry to pick your brains so much...once we've done it all the first time..I'm sure it will seem a lot easier.

By the way, tried to re-register on ex-pats but says I need some sort of account.. with an e-mail address from them  ...don't remember that before ! :o

The housewife tax is Assicurazione Infortuni Domestici and is paid through INAIL. It is in the event that you fall while cleaning house. It is €12.91 per year. Many people scoffed at paying this since it went into effect but this year they are cracking down and the late fee is €13 (yep more than the initial amount) You can get the pay slip at the post office. This is what I found of who has to pay it:
quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you go pick up your residency papers (I still don't understand this, what kind of papers do you need to get or are you talking about the permessi?) you will need to find the office in the comune for rifiuti e tasse urbane. You should bring with you the contract for your house and proof of residency. They will help you with filling in the blanks.

For the ICI, when you closed on your house, did the seller pay through JUne or only through to May? Find out from your agent ASAP. To pay this, again, contact the Comune (I can't remember the office name right now but if you ask where to deal with ICI they will tell you)) and you will need your contract.

As I wrote on the page you can pay by post, direct debit , at their office or sometimes online. The due dates have the links to pay online if available (car bollo, TV tax are, ICI depends on your comune, housewife tax possibly but it is easy enough to do at the P.O.. For other bills, you can also pay most of these online (ENEL and TELECOM) but have to have your account numbers. Youc an also wait until you get your first bill and then take it to the bank and they will set up direct debit.

About getting on my site. You do not need to reregister as you are already a member. Go to the forum and when you log in you will need to give your email address that you used for registering before (that is your user name) if you want that address, if you do not remember which you used, send me an email cristina@expatsinitaly.com If you do not remember your password the system can send it to you.

Hope this helps.

Thanks fo all the info Crisitna...will try agian on ex-pats site.

re; the housewife tax....as I'm 56 I assume I have to pay it ??? ....also does it mean if I have a fall ...I get money !!!! ( George -you're doing your housework this morning...don't trip over the vacuum cleaner until you have paid you housewifes insurance ! :) )-so if I had paid it in May when I fell off a plastic chair while painting a window frame ( claim form would say cleaning windows !!!! ;) ) would they have paid me ???

Sorry to labour the point ...but I've just never heard of it before...we certainly don't have it in the Uk...accidents in home come under contents insurance as an option usually.

You would need to be incapacitated before they would give you any money and the money is just basically workers compensation so enough for you to pay someone else to do your "job". Just another tax. Don't you love it

What's a vacuum cleaner ?? have very large machine thing downstairs, but, usually only put clothes and things into it (30° No.4)... tried dishes in it, not a good idea, now just keep stacking them up till my lil girl visits, or, the flies clean them ?? Generally, on a Sunday, I scrape the worst of the filth from the floor, dislodge the flies and then throw a couple of buckets of water around ??? perfectly acceptable, wonder if I pay the housewife tax, they would send me one ???

I notice on one of the replies that it says the TV licence is linked to the TV not the name or address. As we brought our TV from UK and haven't yet bought an ½ûÂþÌìÌà Tv , do we have to pay the licence ?

wheres the best place to get insurance cover in italy i found this site can u tell me if it does cover me

Or as Quentin Crisp famously once said, after 4 years the dust doesn't get any worse. :-)
