1334 Dream coming closer kym

My dream of living in Italy is coming closer. I just thought had to share joy!
1 went to the court's last week regarding MY divorce spent all day begging had to write a letter to a Judge why I wanted a divorce so quick had many personal reasons won't go into it too upsetting.
But the good news is rang courts Monday and the judge has granted my absolute on 10th November (I'm free) can sign for the house after 10th November once been to ½ûÂþÌìÌà court and had it recognised there! :p

2 House purchase in Italy: I found out there are only 3 ½ûÂþÌìÌà lawyers in the uk that deal with buying a house in Italy. Unlucky for me went to the wrong one. I asked for a structural survey before I signed anything 2 weeks later still sat here with nothing done I have dis-intructed him. I have now found the right one praises for gaimbrone law in London amazing amazing Gabriel in 2 hours he had done more for me The structural survey is being done by friday this week my deposit is finally gunna be paid and my dream home is coming soon everything crossed. He spoke to the estate agent, He spoke to the Noteri and drafted a new contract. I am sorry to sing a praises but was at a point when so much going wrong in my liife. thinking I was going to lose my house in Italy. Limited funds after split with husband spent ages finding a house I could afford
MY 12 year old little boy (husband signed to say I can take him abroad on divorce papers ) My two Great Danes and I hopefully by January will have our new home and our new life in Italy. So much to think about. I am scared I have been with my husband since the age of 20 I am now 42 I suppose it feels like bungey jumping scared but it is worth it. reassurance needed here
sorry to babble but had to share the news !

Fantastic news! You're not the only one singing the praises of Gabriel on this forum -us included.

Go for it girl! Scary it may be but no doubt it will be one of those decisions in life that you look back on and think thank god I did it. Everyone on here will be behind you and eager to know how it all progresses.

Buona fortuna

Kym, Great news, OK, so, once you make the decision, the rest becomes easier... Your life here will, in all probability be far better than your life in the UK. By and large the people are lovely and if you're open and friendly to them they will welcome you. The cost of living is lower than the UK, electricity is more expensive if you try to use high wattage items regularly (air conditioning etc.,), but, otherwise fair. The weather is infinitely better, the food superb. But, errrrm, can't think of any buts :D :D

Kym,

Good news for you. Go for the bungee jump and take a flying leap into the unknown!! You'll never regret it! It's got to be better than life without adventure. Don't look back!!

Regards

Kathy

when we first sent an email to Giambrone & Law 2 weeks ago, we received a reply after less than 2 hours, it was not a standard template but a carefully worded response and very personal: in 2 weeks most of the work has been done, Gabriel has been superb and I would definitely recommend Giambrone & Law to other users of this forum as the service is quick, efficient and reliable!

Kym, did you get your money back when you dis-istructed your previous solicitor? we made the mistake of instructing another Big ½ûÂþÌìÌà firm in the UK (well, at least so they say in their ads) and no work was done for 2 weeks: after chasing and chasing (the solicitor was always on the phone in a meeting or too busy), we finally found out that they had nothing because the payment of £750 on account had not been received. I was furious: the vendor was so close to selling on to someone else!

We changed lawyers after someone else recommended Giambrone Law and the original lawyers are still refusing to refund the £750 which in the meantime I had sent!

This sounds familiar £750 had a word with my bank today because I paid with switch and not credit card (stupid me!) They told me that the solicitor may send payment by cheque The figure your quoting is the same as mine. therefore I am getting worried was the solicitor in Newcastle by any chance?
He promised me a refund verbally on the phone so I will have to investigate tommorow and make another phone call. I just feel this man has waisted my time and money and the Law society reccommended them that's the cherry.

Surely there is some sort of ombudsmun you can contact and threaten them with being struck off.............unless they pay back what they owe you ;)

Kym, We are really happy for you and sure you will have a wonderful life.

Doesn't matter which way you turn there is always dodgy, useless people lurking!! The problem is they get away with it most of the time because it's more trouble than it's worth to do something about it!

Well yes they are based in north of england but i am not sure where as the number is a national number. I don't agree with the fact that the "bad ones always get away with it" because it seems quite simple to make a phone call to the Law society and report a solicitor if he is incompetent or, even worse, negligent!

as soon as i threatened to do that, my money was credited to our account the following day...now that's a result! :)

kym, did you get your money back in the end?

I rang the solicitor the other day and he was very understanding that he had not done his job correctly. I think he had calmed down and realised I was right two weeks of nothing done on house purchase was not a good start. The first instruction for a surveyor, had not been done at all. All I wanted was a structural survey done on a property I was investing all my money in. I dont think it was too much to ask. He thought the priority was the contract but I explained what good is a contract if a surveyors report tells me the house is going to fall down in two years! It turns out I had given him credit card number to take his fee and the accounts had forgotten to take it so all is well that ends well to a trauma and we parted company on a mutual understanding. Seems more stressful buying abroad than uk probably sub consciously its because it is the unknown. But I will keep everyone informed on divorce and purchase progress and hope it doesnt bore anyone to tears.
I am trying to keep myself occupied with other things to keep my mind off everything. But the deposit is paid and hopefully my divorce is over 10th of November and I sign on the ½ûÂþÌìÌà dotted line 15th toes crossed.

Hey! Kym - well done. Can you 'name and shame' save others from getting into a similar situation - but perhaps that is not possible or appropriate, but it should be!!. We are still living in Newcastle waiting to move to our house in Le Marche when properties are sold here. Reading this thread made me feel even a little guilty these charlatans come from hereabouts. If you can't post it would appreciate a PM. By the way we used John Howell and Co. in London and found them to be very reasonable in all respects.
