Hi
Does anyone out here in Italy subscribe to this? Are all programmes available in English and ½ûÂþÌìÌÃ? (Discovery channel, History channel etc) How does it differ from UK Sky? (Nor sure how the language button thingy works!)
Thanks!
Yes Fiona
We subscribe to ½ûÂþÌìÌà Sky, have done since last Autumn and find it excellent. If you subscribe to the films any film that was originally made in English can be changed to the English language. It was a treat to suddenly be able to watch films in English when we first got Sky. In fact you can set the system up to change the language to English on most programmes where it is orig language. Also an excellent selection of news channels in English and ½ûÂþÌìÌÃ. BBC Prime is also available though most of programmes are at least two years old. Some programmes come with ½ûÂþÌìÌà subtitles, which is a help to those of us still stuggling with the language. Anyway can highly recommend the service generally, many more channels than UK SKY,

Thanks very much for the info. Do you know if the satellite is lined up in the same direction as UK Sky tv?

the satellite dfish points to a different satellite... but everyone here that supplies them will know...we pay e20.... but get very few sky channels.... but we get fox in english ...bbc prime...some of the rai premium channels sometimes in english ... and all the bigger news programme suppliers...it all costs more if you want the film channels.... but withh dvds coming out and cheap ... we usually buy these and switch them into english.... that way you have the filem forever... i will agree its handy... our nine year old son loves all the english cartoon channels...

Viola - €20/month is the cost of the basic subscription. If you want to add Films or Sport you will pay an extra €10 Euros each. There are also Pay-Per-View movies at about 3-5 Euros each.
The reason why it seems so cheap now is that Sky Italia has only been running for a year or two. If Sky UK's example is anything to go by, you can expect to see prices rise once Rupert Murdoch has a sufficient number of Digiboxes tucked under the nation's TV's!

Fiona It would be great if you could get someone to do some research on this subject and to write an article in the mag! Loads of us would like more info it seems.
Thanks

Who is asking for additional info.? drop into your local sky shop, most of the electronics supermarkets around are agents, choose the package you want and pay the money...
subs from e20 for basic package up to e40 for full package and around e100 for installation

The good news is that Berlusconi has managed to magnificently shaft Rupert Murdoch by promising him exclusive coverage of football games on Sky in Italy for which Sky paid far too much money then by announcing that Murdoch must have heard incorrectly and licensing the same games for showing by Mediaset (what a surprise).
Given Murdoch's less than principaled stand on human rights, suppression of the truth and the blatant lies published by his newspapers I for one wouldn't give the rat a penny and draw comfort from the sight of one shark gnawing on the entrails of another.
We have ½ûÂþÌìÌà Sky. It costs 20e a month. Some channels are in English some are in ½ûÂþÌìÌà and some hav ½ûÂþÌìÌà or English subtitles. Still working it out really though.
