640 Finally registered

Hello; I've finally managed to register. In the past I've run into problems doing so, and then forgotten about it.
My partner and I now own a house in Calabria -- delighted to see Calabria now gets a mention in your 'regional round up' section.
We're planning a trip at the end of the month with my grandchildren (and their parents), so I guess I won't have time to follow through on my big desire to get broadband fitted this trip.
I'd be glad of any advice on this; Tiscali seems to be very competitive, but since our phone is with the state phone company I wondered if we might be better sticking with it for internet service as well.
Longer term, I'm hoping to buy a left hand drive car, insure it in UK but leave it parked in Calabria. I understand insuring a car in Italy isn't really possible unless one has residential status. Again, any advice gratefully recceived.
Best wishes

I have been in Catanzaro for 3 months. We plumped for the internet connection with Telecom Italia primarily because we had heard from other people that if you are trying to use your phone line (supplied by telecom italia) with another internet provider, the line tends to break up every so ofter. We were tempted to go for Tiscali because they offered a quicker and cheaper installation package, and were, from recollection a couple of Euros a month cheaper, but in the end went for Telecom Italia as their package with land line works out better. If you want to get installation from T Italia, ask asap. It took nearly a month of phone calls to get broadband, even though we had the land line from day 1!

Many thanks indeed for that. We've just returned tonight from ten days in San Nicola Arcella -- only saw a cloud last Monday, albeit a thunder cloud -- and we had a wonderful time.
I'll chase up Telecom, as you suggest. I guess old habits die hard, and I've used BT as an ISP here in the UK for years --- used to know lots of their engineers, and despite privatisation they still had a public service ethic. So maybe Telecom Italia will be similar.
Again, many thanks for taking the trouble to offer advice.

Hi Eddy,

Could you keep us posted with your experiences re telecoms, please?
I am hoping to sort out something similar when we get back to Calabria in September.
(We are just down the coast from you in Belvedere Marritimo).
