Hello and welcome to the Community. There are similar problems with transport throughout the EU and I would dare to say throughout the world. Last night I saw a special report on Spanish TV about this problem and it is true that carriers are cutting down on the number of services provided because of a decline in the number of passengers. Airlines, in particular, are closing down certain lines which they offered before and which have proven to be a loss for the companies.Let's hope that as the economy improves, and it is said that we should notice some changes in the future, all these measures will be reversed.Beautiful place, Lake Trasimeno. Part of my husband's family comes originally from Panicale, so we go there quite often to admire the great scenary . Panicale is one of the most beautiful towns in Italy. It is great to have you amongst ourselves and please write about your own experiences. This helps a lot of people. Join groups, write Restaurant Reviews, there is plenty to do in the "Piazza".A presto.

Hello Janet & StephenWe are soon to travel back to uk with the dog and hope not to have too many problems with Eurotunnel. We will have to keep an eye on their website, but forwarned....We too have an apartment overlooking Lake Trasimeno ( Passignano ) and have had it since last September after selling up in Crete where we had had a second home for nine years. We will probably do as you do, coming in spring and autumn. We did this in Crete so it is rather a pattern for us now. Driving to and fro passing through Italy we inevitably were seduced. So here we are.Ann & Richardps. are you near Zocco?

Hi Ann and RichardYes, our apartment is in the hill behind Zocco castle ( just behind the Rocca with the big crane!) Travelling back last week we had a long first day drive to Nancy so that we could catch a ferry before 5.00pm and be home early evening ( Braintree, Essex) Arrived at the port at 4.00 and eventually sailed at 6.50!We are in Passignano nearly every saturday morning for fruit and veg on the market, pasta from the lovely lady in the little pasta shop and a coffee. Where do you live in UK?Stephen

I think so, you can certainly send a message for the recipient to pick up that is not broadcast to everyone else.We had a holiday in Spoleto two years ago, how are they getting on with earthquake damage? We stayed just outside at Rubbiano, fascinating place, but the weather was just a tad too hot for us and we had no air con.
Welcome Janet & Stephen and

Welcome Janet & Stephen and hello to everyone from the Lago Trasimeno area. We live between Umbertide and Gubbio, my husband, son, daughter in law and 2 grandchilderen are now residents having moved in April 2008 and I will be joining them as soon as my business is sold - hopefully soon!!. Unfortunately I'm still in sunny North Yorkshire, just outside York and have to wait for my visits. For a long weekend then flying to Perugia is ideal. The airport is super - nothing hi-tec and all very friendly. We shall have to arrange an Community get-together in the near future.
Lake Trasimeno is a wonderful
