562 British people who have set up in business in Italy

Hi everyone. I am a British journalist who has just moved to Florence after five years on the Mail on Sunday and am currently writing a feature for a UK newspaper about British people who have moved to Italy to set up a business of their own. I'm trying to feature a wide variety of interesting stories, from people who are running their own hotels or restaurants, shops, tour companies, cycling holidays, publishing companies, food importers - the list I'm sure is endless.
The basic idea is to explore what inspired people to make the decision to move to Italy, how they went about starting off in business out here, and what hurdles they had to overcome. And was it worth it in the end?
If this strikes a note with you, if you have moved from the UK to set up your own business in Italy, then I would love to hear from you.
You can drop me a line at sarahbridge@yahoo.com or call me on +44 7740 925 947 (yet to sort out ½ûÂþÌìÌà phone number, sorry!) and I can call you straight back.
All the best,

Sarah

General chat about Italy

Obviously not many interested punters, reckon they want to keep their move to Italia secret for various reasons I guess lol!

Thanks for your comment, Lord Beaufort! I have actually had an excellent response from people and if you reread my original posting it says for people to contact me directly, which people have done - it has been great to hear from so many people.
There are so many interesting stories out there about people's experiences and hopefully sharing them will inspire other people to make the break - if there are any more people out there with a tale to tell then please feel free to drop me a line.

All the best,

Sarah

Sarah,

I hope you will be posting details of the article when it is published, I'd love to read it. I am hoping to start a new business as part of our move to the Langhe (Piemonte) in the next year so it will be interesting reading.

Kind Regards, Maria Lucia

Many thanks for your message and will let you know when my article is appearing - probably in July or August. And good luck with your move to Piemonte, hope it all goes well for you. All the people I've spoken to while researching this feature have all said it's hard work but the best thing they ever did.

All the best,

Sarah
