586 Living in Abruzzo

Hi.
Just returned from Abruzzo. Our heads are still spinning from the amount of properties seen & the miles travelled, I must say that the area is stunning. We have made the plunge & have paid to stop a property being shown to other prospective buyers, I realize that this is only the first step & that things can still go pear-shaped but fingers crossed that we get what we want. The property is in a village near Tollo just south of Pescara, an old farmhouse set in 1.1 hectares of grounds.
Please wish us luck.

The best of luck, and if you do make it, welcome to Abruzzo.

Hi Andy.
Our search area was confined to a radius of approx 30/40km from Pescara, in my opinion this gives quite a balanced view of mountains, hills & coastal properties. I have found that very often the properties you see on the websites are gone when you get there and that a awful lot of properties never get to the website. The property we are hoping to buy had just come on the market and we were the first viewers.
As a newcomer I am not sure if I can give the name of the agent we used.
I will try to send it privately.
Best of luck

thanks i'll ensure my email is activated

Hi, I had been looking for property abroad for 4 years.Cyprus. Spain,Portugal,Turkey, croatia and 1 or 2 other places which at the moment I cannot recall. I had not seen anything remotely near what I wanted. As you say ,looked great on line ,but when you went out tov veiw, NOTHING.Just tried to sell you whatever they had got
Went to Loreto to meet HOUSE IN ITALY Rep,waste of time, but walking down LORETO main street I came upon INTERLAND.I looked at thier adverts, went into the office and met NUNZIO and Claudia, who could speak very little english. After 20 mins NUNZIO took me to his office in PIANALLE where the girl could understand english because her great~great~great grandfather had emigrated to LIVERPOOL many years ago. This seemed to work as we made an appointment for the next day and I was shown 4 plots, any of which I would have bought.I did buy 1 and NUNZIO is going to build my villa and all at a reasonable price. They will oversee the project from start to finish. You could not meet a straighter or nicer guy and I am the worlds worst cynic.

Hi

do interland have a website and if you are prepared to say whats the cost likely to be to have the property built etc.

Thanks andy

Ciao
Just returned from a week in Italy to sign the compremesso, a bit messy, divorced couple, him in Italy, ex-wife elsewhere, young child somewhere.
We had the help of my partners brother (they are both ½ûÂþÌìÌÃ) and his friendly solicitor. - Never do it without professional help, this one could have turned pear-shaped very easily-. Due to the age of the child a judge has to give permission for the property to be sold, the compremesso has been signed subject to the judges ruling, the deposit won't be handed over till then.
The house is in a little village called 'Canosa Sannita' near Tollo south of Pescara, it is an old farmhouse 300 sqM on 3 floors, 1.2 hectare of land which includes 25-30 olive trees and about 2 acres of grape vines (I am told that a DOC wine is produced from them - time will tell).
Not the prettiest of houses but we have some ideas for it and the garden.
I will have to sort out what I will allowed to do myself and what I will have to use local craftsmen for. It will need permission for a lot of the work so a trip to the local mayor / comune will be one of the first jobs.
Anyway we are looking forward to moving in the near future and start enjoying the local countryside, food, wine, festivals etc
Does anyone out there live in this area of Abruzzo.

We have just had news that the judge has given permission for the property to be sold, so now the compremesso can be finalized and monies handed over.
We have accepted an offer on our house in Bristol so hopefully all systems go.
This is when I start to worry about the logistics of everything, although all the services are at the property I imagine it will take some time to get re-connected or changed to our name.
Maybe the best way is to rent a holiday property close by whilst everything is sorted out, we will probably be arriving in Jan/feb so not the best time to go without heating, electricity etc.
Anyway I'm not the first nor the last so hopefully we will cope.

Hi Stribs

Good luck, hope everything goes well, I'm sure it will. It's a bigger step than we're taking at the minute and we're still very nervous so can only imagine the feeling of moving completely. Our purchase should be completed in the next week or so.......will definitely be cracking a bottle to celebrate........seems to have gone on for ages. Keep us all posted on how it goes.

Hi Stribs

We're about 30km north west of yourselves, our house is situated between Vestea and Montebello Di Bertona.

Kerry

Good luck our house is about 30 kms from yours but we are not going out until Spring.

We were shown some rubbish houses too.I guess agents hope to offload the crap to a unsuspecting brit :(
