511 buying an italian registered car in Uk

I have a question. My husband and I are moving to Rome this summer and are buying a car in London and driving it down. We are thinking about buying a left hand drive car with italian registration. We have heard that this might not be a good idea because of legal paperwork not done in Italy dealing with ownership papers.
Has anyone heard of this? Is it better to just buy a car when we get there?
Any info on this topic would be brilliant.
Thanks,
Kerri

I have not heard of anyone trying this route, hahh, I suspect that you could make life really difficult, the paperwork for a car bought legitimately here is complicated enough. The best bet is to buy here, BUT, remember, it is not possible to buy, and insure a car until you have residency, so, you might be better buying a Belgian car and then transfering to ½ûÂþÌìÌà registration after you have obtained your residency.

yes,George is right.Personally i would purchase a new car here ,if you're moving residency can be quite quick so that shouldn't prove too difficult ,more difficult will be actually driving in Roma which is nearly impossible!!
