493 ½ûÂþÌìÌà ½ûÂþÌìÌà Lessons in Puglia

Hi everyone, We're going to be staying near Ostuni for a couple of months this summer. Does anyone know of a ½ûÂþÌìÌà language summer school in the area? Or would people like to get together and perhaps have a conversation group or find a local teacher for a couple of hours a day? I can just about get by in everyday conversation and have done some of the Linguaphone but really want to do a lot more. I'd like to hear any ideas.

:) Hi Eddie

We recently went to Ostuni and loved it. Have you been there before? We are planning to go back to Puglia this summer and think we will stay at Oria because we have found an apartment to rent there that is reasonably priced. Where are you staying at Ostuni? We have been struggling to find cheap, long term accommodation in Puglia.

Your conversation group sounds great, you can count us in! I speak pretty good ½ûÂþÌìÌà and David is learning. We would like to use the opportunity there to become more fluent. I'd also be happy to teach others a bit more.

We have been listening to the Linguaphone CDs too which are pretty good.

ciao a tutti
there is a language school at the university in otranto the name and web site address escapes me at present but will do some research, they run residential courses for all types of levels, they have reasonably priced family accomodation. i will try to get back to you with the contact ciao marco

We were in Ostuni in March when we put in an offer for a villa in San Vito dei Normanni. We will be back for the completion on 28th of June. Whilst we were renting a house in Ostuni in March, we used to frequent a restaraunt where the owner spoke English. He told us he has apartment there and we are renting from him this time at 25euro per person, per night. His name is Framco and I have his telephone number is its any use to you.

Janie and I will be completing on our Trulli, just SE of Martina Franca, 17th June, and moving permanently on 30th June. We would be happy to find a group of ½ûÂþÌìÌà speakers to help us improve our language skills by way of conversation. We are using everything from CDs, books and computer programmes, but chatting would be better. One of the delights we found were the people of the area were really friendly and helpful when dealing with our fairly appalling and basic ½ûÂþÌìÌà (at the moment). One of the best aspects of living there will be the need to improve our language skills.

Hi Everyone

We have also purchased (if all goes well) a place near Ostuni. And are also trying to learn ½ûÂþÌìÌà through the ½ûÂþÌìÌÃissimo BBC course - it is in the car, in the house, etc. Would love to meet you all when eventually we get down there and practice our ½ûÂþÌìÌà without feeling embarassed by the natives!

We would also be interested in talking to everyone who is down there, especially gaining info, on good restaurants, where to buy furniture, cookers, white goods, etc. All useful information and hopefully we can share it among ourselves and save each other a bit of hard work.

We plan to use the place ourselves several times a year, let the family use it and maybe rent it out a bit during "hot" season.

:( It is freezing cold here in Tipperary, Ireland today and I get depressed everytime I check the forecast in Brindisi (that's the nearest the BBC weather service online does).

Anyway in the meantime good luck with the language practice.

We will move soon to Puglia, in Mesagne. We are buying a masseria. Although I am ½ûÂþÌìÌà and from Brindisi, my wife is from Cape Town and both the kids were born in London it would be great to start a group.

we forgot to mention, that due to davide being italian, and from Puglia, finding accomodation and italian instructors on both language and culture will be no problem. Our masseria/villa in puglia will provide tourist accomodation, in a rural surrounding, with horses, swimmingpool and the most incredible sight of olive groves for miles, uninterrupted. around 25 kilometers of view from the terraced bar. This is our progressing project, and should be ready by next summer.... would love to see you all.

Hi Eddie,

There is a new ½ûÂþÌìÌà School for beginners in Mesagne just off San Vito dei normanni.
Post me if you need it.

Davide

Davide & Ursula, could you please post that information here in this thread? Thanks
