Hi
we are also buying a property in Italy and are being advised by an ½ûÂþÌìÌà Avvocato who works for an Anglo-½ûÂþÌìÌà firm in London.
His hourly charges are very competitive (I obtained several quotes before instructing this particular firm) but I am not sure if I am allowed to post their details on this forum? If it is acceptable, I will be gladly recommend this firm, alternatively you can contact me by email (laurabrown72@hotmail.co.uk).
Laura
PS: This particular solicitor is bilingual so all the documents which we need to sign are translated in English and explained in non-legal jargon so that me and my husband can understand what we are expected to sign.
Can anyone recommend a UK based lawyer who specialises in ½ûÂþÌìÌà real estate - just need one to look over a compromesso and associated paperwork before signing.
I can recommend an ½ûÂþÌìÌà based lawyer who is computer-literate. That is you can scan in the compromesso and email it to him, or ifyou can't do that, fax it to him and he will deliver an opinion. Unlike most British lawyers he's qualified to comment on ½ûÂþÌìÌà real estate transactions.

The going rate for ½ûÂþÌìÌà lawyers in the UK is in the region of £1300-£1500 max for the complete conveyancing transaction, some firms (like ours) do offer you a fixed fee quote so be careful before agreeing to an hourly basis charge!
it's always worth to shop around!

they are not cheap www.johnhowell.co.uk
but just to look over a compromesso - they can do that over the phone - I think they charge £250
alternative phone up the ½ûÂþÌìÌà Embassy and ask for a list from their directory - they cant recommend anyone - they can just give you names
