New Taxes

I just thought that I'd like to pick up about all the talk on here and in the news about the new taxes (IMU TARSU) that are in the process of being implemented. When Berlusconi took away the ICI, the only real constant source of income for your Comune; the infrastructure of everything, especially in Rural areas had been damaged almost beyond repair. Roads are potholed and surfaces damaged, roadside verges are not being cut, damage from Frana is not being repaired and roads not kept clear in Winter; childrens playgrounds were closed due to poor safety, communal bus services cut , the list goes on and on. This is aside from the other Social issues relating to job cuts, reduced hours working, that has a direct effect on the economy of rural areas. I for one am glad that the housing taxes are being updated and increased as this could mean a brighter future for some of your commune and those who can afford more (second home owners, and non residents) should pay more for the luxury of having these facilities ready and waiting when they arrive. Some will find the increase hard when they are faced with extra expense after loosing jobs and general prices rising as well, but as I believe the majority of users of this Forum are not all that short of a 'bob or two' then these should been seen as the first steps to a road to recovery for most Comunes.
Totally agree

I agree with Sprostoni that I was amazed when we suddenly did not have to pay ICI any more, and even paid it when I didn't have to for the first year! I was not particularly moaining, just trying to understand what I was due to pay. By the way, we are not well off as we are living on a pension, but I feel sorry for the 禁漫天堂s in our village on very low incomes. The increase from when they last paid ICI is phenomenal.
Unfortunately

None of your tax increase will go to the comune - 50% of IMU goes to central govt, whereas 100% of ICI remained with the comune. 聽 聽What remains the comune may be able to keep, with of course more legal obligations at the door of the comune. 聽Things will just get worse.聽
