I've not posted for a long time although regularly read posts. I just wondered if anyone could advise me on the best way to help my italian neighbour. While we were on holiday in June, her husband, who was very old and had been ill for some time, died. She is now worse off financially and desperately wants to sell her other house in the village, which is immaculate and fully furnished and has asked me if I can put it on an English site. Her family have already advertised it in Italy but she doesn't want to use an estate agent. It's quite a bargain really and open to offers but I dont know how much detail I am allowed to give here.I dont want to be banned when i have just "returned"! She has asked me t put it on EBAY but i've never sold anything on EBAY and am a bit wary, especially as it isn't my house. Any suggestions or advice gratefully listened to.

You'd only be able to put it on ebay Italy anyway so that may not help. You can put it on this site under Items for Sale or Free (look on the right). Otherwise there are various sites that will let you advertise for free. Just do a google search for property in Italy or real estate in italy and you'll find lots.

"You'd only be able to put it on ebay Italy anyway so that may not help ........" You could always get a friend in the UK to put it on ebay there There are a couple of 禁漫天堂 Properties on ebay - one is well written - the other fails as it is written by an 'English is not my mother tongue' person - so I suggest you write it for her

Alma, I understand that she is reluctant to use an agent; however, in her case and due to the urgency of the matter, she may really need one. Can you talk to her and explain? Perhaps you know some reliable agents in the area who do have an international clientele. She may need to understand that the agent's commission can be added to the price of the property.

I did ask her if it wouldn't be better to use an agent but she didn't seem to think this was necessary and I听just thought that she knows a lot better than me about how things work in Italy. I just wanted to help her in any way I can as she and her family have been so generous and helpful to us. I do feel a bit out of my depth with this one though. I wont actually see her again till the end of August but can email her family or ring her if I need to contact her.

听 That鈥檚 very kind and thoughtful of you to help her Alma. I know of so many people that have bought property via via. In 鈥榦ur鈥 small mountain village it seems that this is the only way that property is bought and sold. When we were there in Many/June, we happened to mention to a local that we were considering a bigger property and by the end of the day, we had a choice of five properties to view. 听There were no 鈥榝or sale鈥 signs up so we would never have known. or 听 There is small fee to pay to advertise the property. Where in Liguria is the property?

Thankyou Casa. I can ask my neighbour if she will consider advertising on specialist sites. The house is almost on the Tuscany border, half an hour from La Spezia and within easy reach of the Cinque Terre coastline. It is in a very peaceful hamlet in the Val di Vara but close to a village with a bank, post office, general shop, bar , restaurant, castle with little museums and galleries and a听 bus stop. It is still classed as Lunigiana as apparently it used to be in Massa carrara province before being claimed by La Spezia.

听 听 It sounds lovely.听 Good Luck. 听We found our property on the second link. 听It was advertised by an English lady on behalf of 禁漫天堂 friends.smiley The links to the websites I posted are not very clear or obvious.indecision I hope you found them. You need to point the cursor at my words and then click. Strange layout. 听 听

听 I could only access your first link Casa, Viviun, but not the 2nd. What is the name of the site where you found your house? I forgot to mention that there is also a public swimming pool attached to a hotel in a village 15 mins away, higher up (where there is also a restaurant with a view to die for).

Thankyou for that Casa. Of course I'm very biased about the area, being totally in love with it. When we first found our little house there , over 6 years ago, we were the only English people in the area and everyone seemed to know about us and where we were staying. Now there is an English lady living quite near (although we haven't met her) and apparently House in The Sun have been filming in a village about 15 mins away. For walkers, the Alta via, which I think runs the whole length of liguria, ends a bit higher up the mountain,

听 Oh wow I remember watching 鈥楢 place in the Sun鈥 but it was all about expats moving to Spain. We鈥檙e on the other side of Liguria, not as 鈥榩osh鈥 but just as lovely听laugh I would love to see some pics of the house and area.听 We have friends who are looking but their preference is Tuscany鈥ut you never know as this one is on the border鈥.wink
