PARENTS TO BE WANT TO MOVE BACK TO ITALY!hello everyone am new in this community, i really need your advice. i was living in italy (the wife) for 3years studying in Politecnico di Milano (architect) but a year ago i moved out to another country. My husband had some work in italy before, so he was in italy almost every week. we were living in Piacenza (our favorite small city) and for a short period in Milano. Now we are expecting a baby for February 2018 and we are thinking to go back to italy, we really miss our life there.. the problem we gonna take a very big risk since where we are now we live in a high comfort (big villa, my husband has a real estate, am teaching in univ..) but we really prefer our "nomadic" simple life and mainly the life in italy. My husband will continue to work in his own and for me since am pregnant i cannot work until Mai 2018 but after that need to work as architect. I dont have permesso anymore so need to have a job/study to get documents again.. now our question is WHERE is the best place to live in north italy with a baby? we are looking for something like piacenza but bigger with more jobs opportunities (for me) and more international people!i was reading about Bolzano and the quality of life there but it seems too far from the airoport (i never visit this city),The best area to live in Milano for a family (not the center) with green area and parcs around?Best cities around MIlano and North with a jobs opportunities, nice quality of life, with a baby!?we need to decide this month, it's sound crazy!!thank you for your advice.

Hi I am also an Architect, I have friends who live in Bolzano, and I can confirm that it is a good place to live with kids, and now there is much more work for architects, however preference is usually given to german speaking professionals, I am afraid the German language is considered more important than in Bolzano. if you can speak german then it is a good option, but please visit yourselves before deciding as it is the most important town in the area but still quite small

I am based in Milan , I am surprised that you found work using only in English - and I suppose it is becasue Milan is very international, with many design and Architectural offices having work abroad, especially in the Oil rich arab states. I doubt if Bolzano will have the same amount of international clients, but maybe...anyway I imagine that the average citizen of Bolzano can speak better English than the average Milanese

The work i found In Milan they use italian as well but no problem if i have bad italian or if i speak just english, same for some international friends. For now am not looking to work immediately since the baby will arrive in Februray (just 3months left to work) so if is ok for my husband i have time to study Germain. But the city is not too far away from the aéroport? This is the only (-) i found for this city until now! We used to be in Milan but we prefer to try something completely new but in Italy :) thank you!

I completely understand your desire of wanting to live in Italy! I'm and I spent 23 years abroad, the last 18 years in NYC. I have just relocated on September 1st with my American husband and my 2 American children to Lucca, a lovely small city in Tuscany we madly fell in love with. We also considered Bolzano because of the job opportunities and the good schools, but we felt a bit isolated. It's a lovely city where everyone is bilingual and has of course a strong German influence. Also, I grew up on the Adriatic Coast in Italy, right on the beach and after the cold winters of NY I didn't want to choose another winter location! Tuscany is lovely too. The schools are  excellent and the quality of life also.Feel free to ask me any question! I know what you're experiencing right now and it's not an easy decision!

some suggestion from here> http://www.lifeinitaly.it/italiasegreta/Italia_Segreta.htmIf you need to have Milan at your fingertips, I recommend the area of the lakes of Maggiore and Como, it is well served, enjoyable to live, with high quality of life
