This might be a bit of a long shot but

This might be a bit of a long shot but we had a family trip to Rome a couple of years ago.  One of the highlights was a guided Vespa tour of the city.  As part of this we visited Trastevere and rode through some of the smaller/off the beaten track streets.  My guide pointed out a really nice looking restaurant in Trastevere that I never caught the name of.  He mentioned that the food was authentic & really good but rather expensive.  He did mention that Barack Obama had dined there on his first visit to Rome as President.  I'm trying to track it down as I'd like to dine there on our next trip to Rome.  Not much to go on I know but any information would be gratefully received.

Hi Gala,Many thanks for the prompt response.  Looking at the photographs of the restaurant on the internet I don't think this is the one.  The one we passed looked like a very old, 2 storey L shaped building with, what looked like, an open courtyard for dining at the front of it.Thank you for the response anyway.Best regardsDavid

Thanks for the replies.  The restaurant was definitely in Trastevere.  If I remember correctly, it was on a small piazza that we came across in what looked like a quiet area.  I might have to do a walk through the whole area on Google maps to try and find it!!!!

Gala , buonasera . After search , with collaboration of some roman friens ( i born in Rome , 65 years old .. Meglio allora Woody Allen, che quando girò il suo (orribile) To Rome with Love,: il Focolare, il Ceppo, Tea Room, Aroma, Il Moro, Molto, Olimpo, Gallura, Assunta Madre… please traslate this word  to  david , as you  have English better that me :) NOTE > Pierluigi , is located  in < Piazza dei Ricci > near Piazza Farnese  Google maps coordinates > 41.896733 , 12.468704

Yes, thank you, Ugo, I do know Pierluigi. But I cannot find the Transtevere restaurant that David is searching for, except for the one where Michelle Obama went with her daughters (and some critics say that it is not very good)  So I am afraid that David will have to look  for it... Or find himself a nice restaurant in the Transtevere...which should not be too difficult, providing he keeps away from the "touristy" places. wink

Hi Gala , Maybe David , clicking -  si scriverà cosi' o saro' lapidato ? :)  on the google coordinates  see the square and recognises the place . that is really a square, limited to traffic, there are also chains to prevent access to cars !

Hi Gala/Ugo,Many thanks for the updates.  Looking at Pierluigi, I'm pretty sure that's not the one I'm looking for....... and I agree that there are many superb restaurants in Trastevere to choose from so I won't be going hungry!!!  I'm on a mission to find the one I saw though.  I think I'll go back to the person who owns the company that does the guided scooter tours and see if he can come up with some ideas.Grazie mille.David
