I haven't been to either of these聽places but the Blue Guide I have recommended the following.聽 Here are the descriptions: L'Enoteca Bar e Vino - This friendly wine bar and restaurant was an old church.聽Excellent salami and cheeses including sheep's milk cheese from Cartoceto cured in walnut leaves.聽 Rabbit or chicken, prepared in various ways, or fish, local wines.聽 Closed Mondays.聽 2 Via Mazzini T: 0734 228667聽 (This is probably the place Penny recommended) Da Orsolina - Fantastic little restaurant specializing in pasta dishes, including the famour vincigrassi; in summer you eat on the veranda.聽 Closed Sundays. 5 Piazza Dante T: 0734 225563 And for dessert - Caffe Alimento - busy popular cafe.聽 Try the homemade ice聽cream or their unique cake torta tartaruga.聽聽56 Piazza del Popolo聽聽 Enjoy!聽 I'm so jealous you'll be there soon.聽 Fermo is one of my favorite cities. 聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽

Lunch in Fermo

Well, after lots of interesting suggestions, all of which I will endeavour to investigate further on future visits, we ended up at 'Locanda del Palio" a small ristorante located in the 'Piazzale Azzolino' VERY close to the main piazza. Lots of body armour, swords, helmets and other such items (associated with il Palio?) adorned the walls......... Food and service both good, (we were the only English in the place!)........very busy with 禁漫天堂 business people, costs with wine 35Euros...............all in all not bad at all. Unusually (I think) ..........it is closed on Sundays Thanks again for the help, S
Forget Rimessa on the link I

Forget Rimessa on the link I gave earlier. Tried it for the second time again after 5 years previously. On a market day. At 1.00 pm only about 4 other customers, spaghetti passable, mixed grill ... one boney lamb chop, leather piece of pork and a grilled sausage with a oily tasteless green salad on the plate. The forno patate looked like they had been boiled and聽 then attempted to be cooked聽 in a low heat oven ......... anaemic and swimming in oil. Cost for 2 people with half litre of house wine and coffee E43. Real rip-off place
Hi Badger, sorry you had such

Hi Badger, sorry you had such a bad experience at Rimessa. We go there often as it is 20 seconds from our house. The pizzas are great but I have to say the rest of the food is not good so we avoid it and just eat pizza there. It's very popular with 禁漫天堂s for pizza in the evenings. It only started re-opening at lunch this year so no idea who does the cooking. I can only assume it's not the same person who does the pizzas!
Good Pizza

聽Hi Penny The pizza may be good, but I can only comment on the meal I had. Would rather go to somewhere that I can have a good meal, either a pizza or any other. That place I will now always give a miss to, as just a tourist joint. If they ever learn to cook then I may return. The best pizza I have had in the Amandola area was at Vecchio Moro by the lake. Rimessa has really gone downhill since it was sold on from its last owner. Perhaps they should just stick to being a pizza joint, then nobody would pay for overpriced rubbish. Did not look at their pizza prices, as not interested for lunch. Anyway, some young guy in jeans who is more interested in watching the tv, than serving customers is not my idea of a restaurant, even if in Italy. I have had far better food in Cambodia and Vietnam than here. At least it is served without waiting 20 minutes between courses.
Il frantoio

Hi, spent most summers in and around fermo since i was a boy. 聽Lots of good places and I like Il Frantoio which was originally an oil press. 聽I can't imagine why its there in the centre of town but the food is good. 聽Leave the main piazza at the lower end, near the statue of the pope and its in a turning on the left after 100m. 聽I know you have been to Fermo already but maybe next time. 聽 Also, my mother like Emidio, 600 m down the same road on the junction with the road that goes to the strada nuova. 聽Workmans place and great simple, cheap food 聽 Buon appetito
Almost worth a return?

Well...........I have to say, reading some of the comments, ..........next time I'm in Fermo, I will definitely try others (even though I enjoyed the place I went to)...... now then, re Pizza.................this place is VERY close to my house so it may be an influencing聽factor............ ..Porta Marina (cafe/bar/pizza)聽in Penna San Giovanni................ask for the 'Pizza Max'............(and they do chips, chunky or thin cut)).........it's certainly my favourite after three years..........
