Just brought in by the fishermen, and all laid out in trays, are all kinds of shellfish, squid and other fish, some still alive, and regularly sparayed to keep them as fresh as possible. At Christmas, you'll also see tubs of still-wriggling capitone, a kind of large eel eaten during the festivities. Mercato dei fiori Piazza Municipio every morning at dawn This flower market (which is also wholesale market) is held in the moat of the Castel Nuovo, close to the embarkation point for the islands. wow Alan, you gound a lot of useful information. however, what I would recommend are three in particular. Forcella and Porta Nolana are easy to reach and you can find really lots of nice things at good prices. Poggioreale is the biggest one and here you will find really everything!!! That's great info - thanks for putting that together. Porta Nolana sounds great. We've small kids and they knock great enjoyment out of being disgusted by dead fish! I'm due a trip to Napoli so think I'll take a look.
