More expensive

Not only is the package different, it is also relatively quite expensive. We have 'the lot ' (silly really cos we don't use it all!) and it costs something like 63 Euros per month . It is also VERY difficult to change your contract DOWNwards, (a right can of worms), so take the minimum and build it up first. I am building up my strength to have a go at changing our contract downwards聽one day! S

聽 Thanks Ram...............I will summon up the strength to call again soon, it is some time since I last tried. I seem to recall that they said we could only cancel or change in the month of June !!!!!!????? So,................ last June(circa 12th) we phoned up and they said we had to keep it until at least THIS June!!聽 As we were busy with other things we've left it,聽 (currently paying 69 euros per month!). We have also been hit with 'failing to cancel' a contract on House Insurance within two months of expiry of contract, meaning by default we have to retain the contract for another year !! Sounds like a scam, watch the small print is the order of the day here in Italy. S
Sky contracts

My understanding is that you have to give no less 2 months notice to either cancel or "reduce" your Sky contract - in writing with recorded letter that you receive confirmation has been delivered (raccomandata con ricevuta di ritorno).聽 BUT...not just any two months, it has to be two months prior to the anniversary of when the contract was originally taken out.聽 So, if you signed up in December, you given written in at least October...but better September as if the letter arrives a day or two "after" the original date, then you are trapped for another year. This is what Sky customer services told me to do about 18 months ago when I pared down the "packages" to the minimum...and it worked.

聽 Sabina, your explanation is EXACTLY my position, I am not in the linguistic position to argue their points (as I would do in the UK), but................ a recorded delivery letter will be off next week as our 'annual contract' is due circa 12th June. We have had similar problems in Italy with our聽house & car insurance (both of which I hate with a vengeance!). If you want to change from one supplier to another the small print in the contract is a very specific time related 'tie-in' (we currently have 2 TWO !! house insurances !! (probably both of which are invalidated by having the other !!). Go carefully one and all !! S
Get Brit insurance

If I were you I'd ditch both house insurance policies and get a UK one - which includes earthquake cover, unlike any 禁漫天堂 policy. I love Italy and 禁漫天堂s but insurance is not one of their specialities (unless you're on the selling side of course ) and I have the absolute minimum: responsabilit脿 civile for the car 'cos it's the law.
Would not touch Sky Italia with a Bargepole

Have never known such a c**p company. Constant marketing calls, and even when told no, that we didn't want their lovely calcio/ sport channels, they still added the cost. We cancelled everything in the end, but still they wanted more money. Ended up with the other recovery agent Equitalia. Just gave up in the end and paid their demands. Murdoch or whoever he is is really coining it for a load of rubbish programmes.
Notice terms in contracts

jJust for the sake of fairness to 禁漫天堂 utilities聽(no I don't know why I should be聽either), notice clauses are the bane of many agreements everywhere聽and always worth checking.聽 Some are so preceisely worded that you only have about one day a year on which you can terminate! You won't be able to get them changed, but at least you've got a chance of diarising your cancellation
House Insurance renewal

sprostoni said "We have also been hit with 'failing to cancel' a contract on House Insurance within two months of expiry of contract, meaning by default we have to retain the contract for another year !! Sounds like a scam, watch the small print is the order of the day here in Italy". I think this is typical as I had the same happen to me. It's not a scam, just a different way of doing things. I was waiting for a renewal notice quoting the new premium for the year, at which point I intended to cancel and go with a cheaper (UK based) provider. It turned out that they had sent me a reminder聽just over 2 months before the due date - which I of course ignored because it didn't quote any new premium聽聽- so that when the due date arrived it was too late to cancel. But it turned out that, once you have signed up, that's it for as long as you need the contract. The premium stays the same as at outset, unlike UK where it increases every year.聽
