I COULD NOT FIND THE ORIGINAL THREAD

Angie, I was unable to find the original thread in the old Forum, so I searched the net and found the hilarious collection of characters. Just as you said, it was a lovely thread, everyone behaved, lots of humour and a good time. Most of us ended up as composite characters, with a bit of this one and a bit of another one... It was also very funny to聽realise how we see ourselves and what other members think....聽 So I've thrown down聽the gauntlet. Please be nice.....

聽Just wondering has anyone any experience of people who invent characters for themselves to live through online. There are times when I'm reading posts on some forums that I just can't help but think that some people appear to get their kicks out of inventing weird and wonerful characters to use as their online persona. Maybe there's an element of mental illness in this. Or maybe it's just a reflection of the emptiness of聽lives. Maybe some do it for fun but I wonder do they realise the dishonesty inolved and the fact that their are messing around with the openness, honesty and good intentions of other users? Maybe they do and just don't care.
REAL vs. IMAGINARY CHARACTERS

聽My experience with forums is limited; however, I believe that there are two main types of characters, the genuine ones... no masks, no make-up, just as they are聽and the fictional ones. Very hard to find out who is who. Generally speaking, genuine characters are less aggressive and they tend to get along with everybody.
