Seven of Sardinia's Most Beautiful Beaches
As summer approaches, we begin a series dedicated to the most beautiful beaches in Italy, where we select seven of the best for each region. Italy has a coastline, including islands, of 7,600 km (4,700 mi), and ½ûÂþÌìÌÃs love going to the beach - you’ll have plenty of opportunities to mingle with the locals and partake in the beach culture of Italy. Beaches are often within easy reach of major cities, and, when temperatures soar, a seaside break from your art- and history-filled vacation may be just what you need.
We begin with the island of Sardinia, where it’s hard to find a beach that ¾±²õ²Ô’t beautiful. Sardinia is the second largest island of the Mediterranean Sea, after Sicily. The coast of Sardinia is generally high and rocky, with long straight stretches of coastline, many headlands, a few wide bays, many inlets, and various smaller islands off the coast.
