A year ago myself and my wife Joanne and our two daft cats emigrated to Italy. Joanne is building a good business as a teacher of English as a foreign language, she gained a distinction in the TEFL programme and had extensive experience in legal profession in the UK. We live in a beautiful town called Sgurgola in the southern Lazio region. Our town has a railway station and superb links to Rome, only 50 minutes away and a 4.5 euro train ticket. The town is blessed with 4 lively bars, a good taverna and pizzeria and excellent local shops. We have a thriving sunday market and daily traders of fruit, vegetables and fresh fish. The geograhical situation of the town is at the foot of the stunning Lepini mountains, The hill walking and cycling potential is excellent, all around the town are spectacular views of the Lepini and appenine mountains.Sgurgola is REAL Italy, A genuine , historic community tracing its origins back at least 1000 years. The people are warm and friendly, welcoming the few tourists who have discovered us so far.We are now in a position to offer discerning travellers the opportunity to share our home on a bed and breakfast basis We do not live in a palace, just a small comfortable and clean home. We have a lovely balcony for evening relaxation and the double bedroom has spectacular mountain views. We can offer an evening meal, as long as you pre order in the morning and dont mind eating with two intelligent , knowledgable and passionate people.Across the valley from us is the larger historic town of Anagni, famous for being the home of 4 Popes. It is well worth a day of your time. The historic towns of Anzio and Cassino are easily reached by train. All things considered Sgurgola is a great base to explore Rome and the Lazio region. As you would expect, not being Tuscany or Umbria, our prices are realistic and fair.  For double occupancy we charge 30euros per night including breakfast, and 25 euros for single occupancy. The cost of entertainment is low, large Peroni 2euros, glass of good wine the same. Excellent wines of the region can be purchased for as little as 3euros a bottle in the town. A large pizza with anchovies will set you back the princely sum of 6euros/I would be delighted to provide more detailed information to any interested italy lovers.
