Danny
I know my comment may be basic and you may have already researched.
You don't say where abouts you live, but I would check your nearest airport to see if there are any budget airlines and where they go and start from there.
I have been to Venice its beautiful but bear in mind there are lots of small bridges so if you have a buggy lots of lifting, there is also jewellary shop on the Rialto Bridge if you want to splash out.
Capri is nice but bear in mind you have to fly to Naples then catch a ferry to any of the islands (a lot of travelling with a baby for a short break). The Amalfi coast may be an option if you want a bit of peace and quiet, Naples (nice city but busy) not too far to visit, nor Pompei.
Lots more places obviously
Wherever you pick you will enjoy.:) :) :)

Thanks for the advice
I live in London so have plenty of options of flights and airports. I pan to stay for 3 nights.
I don't know why but Venice doesn't really appeal. A bit too 'touristy' ?! and like you say maybe not the best with a buggy.
I would like a few sights and some good food we can eat during the day and friendly hospitable locals.Maybe one of the smaller cities like Genoa ????

Genoa is a lovely place and has been spruced up alot recently as it was European City of Culture in 2004. Granted it's not in the same league as Rome, Venice, etc. when it comes to tourist attractions but there is a lot to see. Depending on the age of your daughter she will love the Aquarium which I believe is the largest in Europe. Also, from personal experience, Genoa is quite buggy friendly! I can point you in the direction of some good guides on Genoa if you want to PM me.
It does have one disadvantage of being pretty poorly served by the airlines. From where you are , stansted to genoa with ryanair is about your only option.
One key question - are you going to hire a car (could you be based outside a city?) or do you want to stay in a city and do no travelling around?

What about staying in Verona,[Fly to Brescia and do day trip to Venice by train.
Both Verona and Venice shouldn't be too crowded in March, and the train trip is pretty cheap.

Sorry I did mean to put Bolonga !
I have actually been to Verona some 10 years ago whilst inter railing so would like somewhere new.
I must say I am mightly impressed with all your feedback so thank you once again for taking the time.
I was toying with flying to Pisa then going to Florence for 2 nights and back to Pisa for one night before returning home.
Or maybe Sardinia ....
Money is a little tight at the mo so a low budget trip is called for !!!

Roma would be our choice. Perfect for that long weekend break at that time of the year. Hope your girlfriend does not read this forum though!

As you mention Sardinia, we went to Alghero a couple of years ago, not too touristy some nice little local restaurants, low cost airline fly there.

I agree - Venice would be good for a short stay [you don't say how long for]
