around with it at finals.

2 czech
3 holland
4argentina
5spain
6mexico
7usa.
9 england
12 italy.
As much as I would like to see England do well (no, really I would)..... it's a funny old game!
Remember, Italy drew with Scotland in the qualifications!
.............. Fifa has used the same ranking co-efficient as in 2002 when seedings were based on performances at the previous two finals and a position based on world rankings from the previous three years. ...........
This is how they came up with it, but again, I fail to comprehend how it's translated into THAT ranking!
Second?

It seems that there's more than one set of rankings; one for normal world events & another for the World Cup.
I can still foresee a glum set of qualifyers & then a defeat to someone (anyone!) against whom we'll have a justifyable excuse for losing (hand of god, Gazza's tears etc.....!)
Gowd, I sound like I'm not looking forward to it!

How on earth they can rank USA above England and Italy is totally baffling, a very bizarre and not true to ability system.

So hands up who was querying the logic of FIFA & their world rankings?
OK, I was!
After last night's affair, I had recalled this thread & wondered what the consensus was.
Looking at the rankings:
1 Brazil..................maybe!
2 Czech.................that's more than hopeful!
3 Holland................I doubt it
4 Argentina.............higher!
5 Spain...................not sure yet
6 Mexico
7 USA
9 England
12 Italy
No mention of Ghana(!)

It also depends on the area of the world that they play in eg Usa will be able to get a good ranking in the world because they will play teams like chile, mexico, paraguay that they will beat 9/10 times giveing them a 90% win record giveing them a higher ranking. England have got harder teams in the uefa are eg spain, italy, france and germany plus many others giving them a 5/10 win ratio making them only 50% successful lowering there rankings. understand?

actually you are on the right lines, but how often do the us beat mexico?
who were ranked higher!
Fifa also uses a complicated sum to work out how pionts are given to how
important a game is, in otherwords u would get fewer pionts winning a
friendly at home to winning away, and a world cup final game, will be worth
massive more pionts win lose or draw.
its a very strange system.

It placed England second..................... go figure!
